- Cptnstv4 contributionsBrilliant staffJust like to thank the staff who are so caring. I was on my own waiting for taxi and they wouldn't close. They stayed with me when everyone else had left to make sure I got in my taxi ok. Can't thank them enough. All the staff are fab.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 5 February 2024
- AwayDays_RichMacclesfield, United Kingdom1,512 contributionsVery enjoyable eveningMark Watson, midweek in November and not full by any means. I'm a big fan, not everyone is though, there were spaces which Mark tried to fill by asking people to phone their friends, which they did and some of their friends turned up! Probably the weather and midweek putting people off. It's great to support places like this I feel. Drink in the small bar first, friendly staff, all good. Someone mentioned leg room on here, I don't remember that being a problem and I'm 6' 3''. Maybe it's my memory, I retired that day.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 March 2024
- caz3008Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom132 contributionsStunning venueAbsolutely stunning theatre and without a doubt the most helpful and friendly staff Only slight gripe the price of refreshments £4.50 for a slushie. Really ? However no problem taking your own snacks and drinks . Definitely recommendVisited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2024
- Julia G5 contributionsFantastic show but poor parking !!An Amazing performance of ‘kinky Boots’ by Crewe amateur musicals society ! Better than professional shows I have seen ! The theatre itself is beautiful and traditional . 2 downsides .. 1. Not enough toilets !! 2. Terrible parking .. no where to park . Only a few disabled places and both my parents needed to be close to the theatre but even though they arrived an hour before the show . No spaces left . Hope the theatre can do something to improve the parking which will encourage more people to visit the theatre ! Also, would be nice to get a meal before the show , they used to have a restaurant there but it seems closed now . Please bring it back !!!Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 April 2024
- GlobeTrotting828973Manchester, United Kingdom216 contributionsGreat evening! We were there to see the Illegal Eagles. A great show and we were all up dancing. As long as you don’t block the aisles, the staff usually let you! Good views from most central seats in the stalls - avoid the side front couple of rows. The stage is sloped so much better for live performances. People have complained about parking - the area outside has been redeveloped to provide outside venue for summer events and the regular artisan markets. You can access the side street to drop off disabled patrons. There is free evening parking behind the Mall (after 5:30 pm I think) and it’s a short walk. The market hall next door has food vendors. There are also a couple of pubs nearby.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 September 2024

A nice traditional, cozy theatre with friendly staff and ornate, over the top, features. Top advice if you want to eat before a show book with the theatre. The restaurant is small and there appears to be nowhere to eat nearby. Crewe has a wide variety of pubs but most seem not to do food (if any near the theatre do please post correction) nor were there apparently any restaurants or open cafe bars nearby. On a Thursday night near the theatre Subway was the only food place open & we had nice hot sandwiches from the friendly staff there but we were surprised there weren't other choices. The Lyceum Theatre website advises to book a table or a fixed price meal with the ticket which we hadn't done and they had no spaces. The food looked good. The main bar is small but pleasant enough. We didn't try the smaller Circle bar upstairs. Seats like old fashioned theatre or cinema seats - it is an old building. Overall we had a good night seeing the comedian David Baddiel, enjoyed the show but hadn't realised the theatre is a bit isolated of an evening as it is in a shopping and market area where most places are closed. Handy for cash machines along the shopping street. A short taxi ride from the station but a bit far to walk if you don't know the area.

We watched Cannon and Ball in Peter Pan on Christmas Eve and we really enjoyed. All the Lyceum staff always put a lot of effort in from ushers to door staff, they always go out of their way.
The sound and lighting are limited but perfect for the ambience the place has to offer, due to it's relative small cost feeling. Always recommend a visit here to a better part of Crewe's dimminishing heritage.

Excellent show first half was dedicated to Roy Orbison having seen the man himself 3 times Barry was very close to him.
2nd half was totally Travelling Wilburys with various band members being the other Wilburys.
Show was first class but downside was cramped seating for such a lovely theatre it's a shame you look forward to a leg stretch.

We went to see Cannon and Ball in Peter pan recently and we were truly happy with the performance. Enjoyed it so much, we had to book again for a second time. Chico and captain hook were fantastic, so were all the dancers and the children, and of course, peter pan and tinker bell and Mrs smee. You all worked very hard over Christmas and new year to bring happiness to many people.
We cannot wait for the 2020 panto. Hope its Cannon and Ball again.
A big thank you to the restaurant staff for the great service during our meal. Everything was so quick and our dessert and coffee was waiting on our reserved table during the pantomime break. Hows that for perfect service. The main meal was hot and very tasty and also plentiful, but the Guinness that I ordered, I suspected was bottled, not draught as I expected for a restaurant.
All in all, the Lyceum and the pantomime were a 100% perfect experience. Will definitely be visiting again.
Thank you to all the Lyceum staff who work really hard day in and day out to make everything easy and comfortable for everyone. Well done.

A friend and I attended the theatre to see Benjamin Zephaniah, an idol of mine. Benjamin Zephaniah was incredible, as expected and was lovely enough to stay behind at the end to meet everyone that had come to see him.
The staff were also absolutely fantastic. I use a crutch to walk and the staff couldn't do enough to help me to make sure I was as comfortable as possible before, during and after the performance.
I love how close to the performance you are, every member of staff is incredibly polite and the whole theatre is very welcoming. The performances are also very well priced. The food and the restaurant staff are also lovely and again, well priced.
I would strongly recommend buying a ticket and going to watch a performance!

Went to watch the Drifters had food first as booked Dine&Show food was great the show was really good. Drinks a little expensive but expected that to honest. The only negative was if you got your phone out to take pictures or video the artists in the theatre the staff were on you right away telling you to put your phones away which I thought was ridiculous really. The rest of the staff were great.

It was a Joyous pantomime. Great Singing and Dancing. Lots of Laughs. Aladdin needs to be more of a Street Rat, a lovable rouge , which wasn’t portrayed in this version. Louise Spence did some great Pirouettes and very watchable. The star of the show to me was wishy-washy, he was very funny and quick witted. My only quibble is the cost of a toddler, as mine didn’t even sit on her seat and cost £27. Well Done!

Its a lovely little old theatre that does exceptionally well to attract the big acts it does.
Plenty of car parking very close by.
One piece of advice I would give is if like me you prefer not to be in the stalls book the circle (great view) by all means but not the gallery. For such a small venue you are far too high up and ultimately end up looking at the acts heads making you feel a little disconnected from the show.

The tour left a lot to desired. I understand that it’s done by teenagers but we walked out feeling like we’d been taken on a wander round for the sake of it.
Little to no information really given about the theatre itself apart from repeating the same things ‘ballerina, circus, elephant’. Everything else seemed to be ignored!
Group was too big for the spaces meaning we had people queuing down staircases and in really small spaces. For reference there was maybe 30-35 people crammed into a space that would comfortably fit 15.
On top of that, it ended ridiculously abruptly and left everyone shocked that it had ended. In context we came off stage into the foyer, then it was announced the tour was over stay for a drink in the bar if you like. Not overly professional
Was it worth the £10 ticket price? Absolutely not, I’d struggle to stretch to £5 to be honest

Hi Louie, thanks for your feedback.
We’re very sorry that you didn’t enjoy the Young Ambassadors’ interactive performance/theatre tour. This was not one of our professionally led, 18+ Ghost Hunts (next date November 2022).
The Young Ambassador Ghost Tour was an end of year, creative project by a group of young people aged 14-18 who meet weekly at the venue to get hands-on experience with all aspects of the theatre, including marketing, programming, producing and outreach, as well as building a network with the local creative community.
Your feedback will help our next cohort, starting in September 2022, in planning and implementing their projects. If you would like to email info@crewelyceum.co.uk we would be happy to assist you further.

My wife booked tickets to Sigmund Freud, the Troy Hawke stand up session. After nearly 2 months of hearing nothing about them we chalked it down as a loss and assumed we'd been scammed. 1 day before the event you sent an email out saying 'if you've not received your tickets yet just call on this number'
We called. Were told the system was too busy and you'd call back. So here are 2 examples of something being wrong on your end.
My wife's dad had passed on during the time between ordering the tickets and having ANY correspondence from yourselves and so she wasn't feeling particularly comedic. Apparently it's impossible for you to offer refunds. I'm not gonna swear, but that is nonsense isn't it?
Even after this call you never sent out the tickets, you insist your system shows you did, I am telling you as a fact, they did not arrive. Period. So don't make me or my wife out to be a liar when you have clearly had some kind of issue. Venues don't sent links to customer service numbers in case your tickets don't arrive ever. They just send tickets. This isn't the first event we have ever booked tickets too and so I have plenty of first hand experience of good customer service.
You even tried to blame her email provider. I'm sorry but I'll trust Google or Microsoft over the Lyceum when it comes to IT thanks.
Never been and never will now. Disgusting.

Is there anywhere nearby to get a good meal before the show on a Saturday night?

Try the Market Hall next door. Open from lunchtime Weds-Sun and late evening Fri & Sat. Lots of small food vendors, craft beer, coffee etc.

where is the nearest parking
Written 31 January 2020
The parking directly in fort to the the theatre has been closed off for a couple of years and is permanently out of use.
You can park on the large Asda car park free after 6pm.
I'd advise parking near to the Victoria Street entrance as it's a short walk along well-lit streets from there to the theatre.

Im think there are 4 seats in each box, have never been in the boxes so could be 6 as in previous answer
Written 12 December 2019
Is it worth getting the box treat for special occasions; is the viewing as good as from the middle of the theatre?
