Situated on the Southern tip of Lake Windermere. Lakes Aquarium has a wide range of native marine and freshwater fish including Pike, Arctic Char, Seahorses and more. It is also home to Asian shortclawed otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, Clown fish and amazing leaf cutter ants. Cafes and giftshops are available onsite and we can be reached by Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or Windermere Lake Cruise as well as by car. Please note the car park is not owned by the aquarium and is pay and display. We are sorry but we cannot allow dogs inside the aquarium building.

What you'd expect from an aquarium of it's size. On two levels with an underwater tunnel feature. Did expect a bit more if I'm really honest but I'm nearly 30 years old so shouldn't be too fussy!! Needs a bit of updating here and there where it looks tired (where the ducks are it looked as though it could do... More

Took my two nephews, 3 and 6 here, they enjoyed the fish but a lot of the features needed work. They couldn't actually reach into the sandpit and we witnessed someone had put their small child inside the sand pit on the way out! The interactive computer game doesn't work as children can't use the computer and look at the... More

This was a nice visit with a wide variety of species to see. There were more than just fish with other animals including frogs, tortoises and marmosets. What let it down is that there were too many things that were closed or spaces that appeared empty.

Premises do not look very big from the outside but Aquarium is arranged over 2 floors (stairs or lift). It is very well laid out with a good choice of fish to view as well as mammals. There is plenty of things for kids to partake in. Well worth a visit.

Bought a joint boat trip and aquarium visit ticket which is good value. Visited with wife, 14 year old son and 80 year old father. It's a very small aquarium but very good. The otters are absolutely superb - just a shame they're not native British otters. Doesn't take long to get round but it could be longer if you... More

We got round this aquarium in 10minutes, it was so small. Really not worth the boat ride over from bowness purely for the aquarium.

We stopped here on our way up to Bowness. Set in a lovely location it's a great place to stop for an hour or two. The aquarium has lots of different native display tanks related to the areas in and around Lake Winderemere. Reasonably priced too at £6.95 for an adult. Nice little gift shop too. Cafe next door which... More
