We are members of the National Trust and went to visit this on a rainy day. 2 guided tours per day in the morning - they only take 15 people on each as it is small. Worth doing as the guide is very knowledgeable. The...More

A lovely old farmhouse. If you visit at 11am or noon you can have a guided tour by taking a peg from the front door - we had a very interesting tour and there was a quiz for children. After 1pm there are informative guides...More

Absolutely totally worth a visit. So many original items of furniture each with its own story to tell. The guide downstairs Frank Jones was so very knowledgeable having the experience of 14 years behind him. Obviously enjoys his work there sharing his stories of the...More

A really lovely house, the carved wood is amazing and the place is delightfully quirky, the staff there are fabulous, really knowledgeable. I would recommend a visit

This was a 'must do' visit as I am related to the original family who built the house and wanted to get a flavour of where and how they lived. There are two guided tours of the house available, at 11am and noon each day,...More

Even though it was pouring with rain we still ventured to Townend. House is very interesting and staff are ready to give you lots of information about its history and the family who lived there. Do look in the small outbuildings especially at the video...More

We called in as we were stopping nearby and are so glad we did. This house is packed full of history and charm. Fortunately for us the family who farmed here kept and reused things rather than throwing them away.
