Had a wonderful visit to the Castle and took the new guided tours on offer on Fridays in July. The experience was great and the guide - Haylie (sp) was really great. She was informative and her commentary was valuable. The visit was a really...More

Amazing views of the valley below from the top! The hill is a real bugger but there are ample benches situated along the path. Castle itself is fascinating and generally just a cool thing to be close too, thickness of the walls and the steepness...More

The path up to the castle is long and winds back and forth. Not for the faint hearted although the views at the top are worth it. Not a great deal left except walls and a tower, and not much information at the top that...More

Quite demanding path up to the castle ground but the view definitely worth the effort. Don't forget to hike the secret valley at the back as well.

Visited with my husband on a day out. There are some paid car parks near the attractions, but since we visited during term time and it was a weekday, the streets were relatively quiet, so we used on-street parking outside the nearby church. The location...More

Steep climb to the castle but plenty of benches along the path for a rest. Guide book is informative, as you'd expect from English Heritage. Spectacular views of the village and surrounding area from the castle.

A few people commented that it's a steep climb. It's actually not that bad and our three children aged 5,7&9 plus grandma managed without any issue save for a couple of stops to catch the breath and admire the view. To be clear the castle...More

Hi, I would say approximately 90 minutes will do. There's not much to see in the castle but the views are great. It's quite a steep walk up to the castle but you can take your time getting up there (there are some benches... More

£5.10 each without gift aid and £5.70 each with gift aid but English Heritage members are free and I believe there was a 2 for 1 offer in some magazines.
