The visitor centre consists of an upmarket kitchen shop (selling cutlery, crockery, pots and pans and kitchen gadgets etc) a cutlery factory offering free guided tours at certain times (check the website) and a café. The factory tour is interesting and the café serves good quality food (sandwiches, soup, salads and cakes). It's a little on the pricey side but... More

Design museum of David Mellor's work since age 11, he designed both metalwork street furniture tools and traffic lights! Cafe with good food, coffee is not good. Shop is extensive selling not only their own products but also other quality design and some food. Factory tours at 15.00 on Saturday and Sunday are worth planning your visit around as it... More

We visited the museum ,centre, by chance ,on a friends suggestion whilst in the area as it had not been on our agenda. So glad we took his advice as a pleasant suprise and contrast to the rest of our stay in the area. The street furniture design background was fascinating, and the kitchen ware design and production was very... More

You don't have to like silver or kitchen wares, I love seeing the street furniture talented designer David Mellor created in the 1960's that we still use today. Who knew he designed our traffic lights over 50 years ago. As it happens I love all the elements of this centre, feel completely inspired by the products, the beuatiful building and... More

This is a lovely setting and overall a very nice place. The staff were a bit of a mixture though, with a young man who was quite friendly, an older lady who was very nice and a younger girl who seemed not to want to be there or serving us. Cake and tea were wonderful so left feeling happy.

It's an eye opener to realise how many day to day objects of street furniture were designed by David Mellor as well as the cutlery and silver I associated him with. The exhibition and shop are well worth a visit and there's always something for the home or kitchen you can be tempted with. Having bought a beautiful knife here... More

Had high expectations but found the experience disappointing. In the cafe it is waitress service and we and to wait for a while before being served even thought there seemed to be plenty of staff. The coffee itself was nothing special. The shop was very upmarket and several things were not priced and the staff did not seem very approachable.

We had no idea who David Mellor until we visited by chance as we were passing. Very impressed by the quality of products and design and interesting displays - even bought a couple of items

A very stylish venue for meeting up with friends. Beautiful surroundings, excellent car parking and delicious food. Exclusive things to see and buy from definitive biographies of William Morris and Byron; to world class designs of cutting edge cutlery! What more does one need for an excuse to make this a regular trip out? James B. Ball
