My visit this time was for a live beamed-in theatre performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. The Courthouse have a number of these type of performances throughout the year from the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company and sometimes show classic films. I have visited The Courthouse on a number of occasions for cake & coffee It's a good place... More

I hadn't planned to visit the Rural Arts Centre but happened to pass it, saw the sign for home made refreshments and popped in. The cafe offers a cosy space, a mix of traditional tables/chairs and more lounge-style seating. I'm told the food here is really good. I didn't try any only because what was on display on the counter... More

Called into the Courthouse, as we always do when visiting Thirsk, for a light lunch. Decided to order soup which was Italian Vegetable that day. It was delicious and served with both two generous slices of bread and a bowl of croutons. Very filling and excellent value. Was planning to have something else to follow but too full! Wish I'd... We called in here on our way home for a cup of tea after spotting a McMillan coffee morning sign. What a pleasant surprise it was. Homemade cakes and a delicious cup of tea from incredibly friendly staff. If you are Thirsk this a lovely place to visit!

On my way home from Northumberland/Jarrow and stopped off in Thirsk to shop and get petrol hoping that I would get a cup of red bush tea and scone here. Not disappointed. No exhibition this visit but lots of workshops etc coming up. They have an excellent website.

We called in for tea and snacks on a rainy August afternoon. What a warm & friendly welcome we got and very good food and tea...all served with genuine Yorkshire hospitality. We will be making this a regular stop-off when driving through Thirsk. If you are in Thirsk, don't drive by as we have often done, DO STOP and try... More

Being relatively local we drive through Thirsk a lot...every time we passed the Courthouse Rural Arts Centre, we vowed to stop but never did. Today, with a parking space directly outside, we did! What a surprise... we were made so very welcome in the delightful tea room by a lovely lady... we were only having tea & a snack [homemade... More

A million miles from your standard cafe. Superb bread used for the sandwiches, indeed a ham sandwich, with a choice of mustards, is a meal in itself. It with a great light salad, coleslaw and dressing. The coffee is excellent - not cheap cash & carry stuff. The sun-dried tomato soup knocks spots off Heinz! If she is not too... More
