You enter a beautiful aviary with ponds and tropical gardens and over 1500 stunning butterflies. Great guides give you a tour of the whole place and the life cycles of butterflies. Peaceful and enchanting well worth the visit to Kuranda.

The free guided tour of the sanctuary was very educational and interesting. Without doing the tour you would miss out on a great deal. The guide was very knowledgeable and the information regarding the breeding program fascinating.

Not much to see as in the park is pretty small, however, it was worth it. It's really pretty. Im glad i went.

Absolutely amazing place, so colourful, lots of different types of butterflies to see, as you wander around the rainforest & waterfalls. I recommend the free guided tour of the sanctuary. Good for all ages. 10 out of 10👍

A bit disappointed as there were only a few varieties of butterflies in the aviary and little else worth viewing except for the butterfly gallery as you exit the aviary. Would have expected a little more for the entrance fee we paid.

I thought there would be more butterflies. You had to search for the butterflies if there were more it would have been better for my kids enjoyment.

I absolutely loved visiting the Butterfly Sanctuary! When you first enter, you don’t realise how huge the place actually is and how many butterflies are in there. There are so many species and the tour guides are very knowledgable. There’s even a place where you...More

How labor intensive is it to 'breed' butterflies? Is it expensive to set up a butterfly sanctuary? What sort of capital would be required to start one up?
