Great collection of butterflies 👍. Guided tours available. It is a fun place to take the kids, they could see the process of metamorphosis. It was smaller than we imagined though!!

In combination with the Koala Gardens, Bird world, and the Kuranda Scenic Railway, the Butterfly Sanctuary is a must visit! Take your time strolling through the sanctuary and getting up close to some of Australia's most incredible butterfly species. I could've spent hours here if there wasn't so much else to see in the village, ha! Really wonderful. P.S. -... More

the entrance price for this exhibition is rather high, to see several species of butterflies hidden through a large room with luxuriant plants

Spent a good hour and half here with family on day tour in Kuranda. At front desk they asked if we wanted a tour, we're glad we did. Our guide Robin was great, she explained in detail the life cycle of butterflies, what they eat and when, and took us through the back areas showing how they raise the butterflies... More

Initially we thought it would be a dome with butterflies in it but we were surprised at how good this sanctuary actually is. Unfortunately they didn't have any Ulysses butterflies... More

You can walk throughout the building and see them all as they float around freely. It can be difficult to take pictures of them as they fly, but if you stand still long enough, one might land on you... More
