Thanks to Tina for your very informative platypus talk! Unfortunately we failed to see a platypus. Kudos for giving us a pass to come back again though, nice touch :-)

Went there on our way from cairns to mission beach. It's not a spectacular spot but it's definitely worth going there when you're on the road. We had the chance to spot platypus in an natural environment. Tina and Andrew are amazing. Very friendly and nice. She knows a lot about the animals and she shares it with you. They... More

Thank you for your feedback We take seriously your comments. We would like to say we are sorry your experience wasn’t as enjoyable as your previous visits. It seems you came on the days when our chef was away and we were experiencing staffing issues. Unlike in cities, in remote regional areas, it is not easy to get staff at... More

Saw one platypus after 45 minutes a long distance away saw it breathe in distance twice before swimming under Lilly's. as per photos the area is to big and apparently the burrows are on other side. I don't think the owners really care as we were never asked how our experience was or if we found them on returning. My... More

We have a 99% viewing success rate for the second rarest sighted animal in the world. You can see this from other comments on Trip Advisor. We are sorry you did not manage to catch a good look at the Platypus about the platypus lake, but as it is their breeding season numbers can often be down as the females... More

Did not see one platypus !! A big sign will tell you that you are guaranteed to see a platypus, but they wont give you your money back if you don't see one. We waited and watched down by the pond for 1/2 an hour to see nothing, eventually a lady come down to show people what they were looking... More

We have a 99% success rate for the second rarest sighted animal in the world. We are sorry you did not manage to see any Platypus about the platypus lake, but as it is their mating and breeding season numbers can often be down. As the Platypus can be very timid, and easily frightened, which is why we have guidelines... More

To be able to see wild platypus at play/hunt is sensational and such a rare experience (at the visitor centre/restaurant the owner explained that less than 2% of Aussies ever see a wild platypus. The restaurant was also great, serving delicious food at reasonable prices. Be patient and follow the instructions (you actually need to be talking rather than silent... More

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to the Australian Platypus Park. The Platypus are delightful animals. The reason why you can talk is the fact that you do not come across as a predator. Of course talking too loudly/shouting and pointing can scare them off. More

We did a day trip to Tarzali Lakes from just north of Cairns. The drive was quite easy and very scenic passing Kuranda, Mareeba and Atherton. The Platypus Park is in a beautiful setting with abundant wildlife including fish, eels, turtles and of course lots of platypus. A leisurely walk around the park was followed by a lovely lunch. We... Came across this site on a road trip, called in and was warmly greated by Tina an enthusiastic member of the team. Tina gave a small history and brief outline of ten little critters and we were shown where to go. They are smaller than I was led to believe and as Tina had explained they are quick when on... More

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to the Australian Platypus Park. People do think the Platypus is a lot larger than what they actually are, but they are indeed very interesting creatures. We went to see some platypus for 5 dollar pp; we were a little skeptical but we saw lots of these strange animals! (you have to be patient though). We also ate a delicious freshly caught smoked baramundi. Worth the trip!
