Take the Tour - Taste the Action! There is no greater story in Australia’s history than that of Australia’s sugar cane industry. This story is ideally showcased, for visitors of all ages, at the Sarina Sugar Shed where you can "take the tour and taste the action." Sarina Sugar Shed, an award winning tourist facility, is a miniature sugar mill and distillery. Open all year round, visitors of any age can enjoy a fully personalised guided tour of the entire facility and see firsthand how sugar is grown, processed, milled and distilled in the unique miniature mill. The tour takes you on a 'touchy-feely-tasty' journey of three generations of farming sugar cane. Take a tour to experience the tasting of the products produced at the Sugar Shed. Lime and Mango gourmet sauces, liqueurs and schnapps. Smooth flavours of chocolate, rum, local Bowen mangoes tantalise taste buds and have you wanting more. The big attraction for all ages the creation of fairy floss. We love it, you’ll love it! Open Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Tours 9.30am 11.00am 12.30pm and 2.00pm. Closed Public Holidays.

My partner and I took my mum there today and the tour was fantastic. There isn't much happening though if you don't do a tour so make sure you book the tour. Our guide Sarah had a wealth of knowledge and was very easy going. Love the Noi Lime Liquor and the Lime Sweet Chilli Sauce!! Delicious!!

As the daughter of a Sugar Cane farmer (I lived the first 18 years of my life on the farm) I really didn't know a whole lot about how sugar is actually made. On a recent visit home, I took my boyfriend (who is Irish, knows nothing about Sugar Cane) to the Sugar Shed to give him an idea on how... More

Learnt lot abt sugar industry and whole process. The miniature sugar mill was great to see the process explained to us during the different stages of the product life cycle, I loved the testing and sauces. The kids were amazed to see the old farm machinery used to farm sugar. In all very informative and well presented. A string recommendation... More

Finally visited the Sarina Sugar Shed - which I've heard so much about - with friends visiting from overseas. Excellent and informative guide. Even growing up here amongst the canefields I was somewhat unaware of the process that takes the cane and turns it into sugar and other products; but our guide and the miniature sugar mill demonstrated the process... Well presented information in dvd presentation, viewing of early machinary followed by the practical viewing of cane crushing. Tasting along the way was excellent. The whole tour was not too long and would especially be suitable for primary school children, and filled many gaps in my knowledge of harvesting of sugar cane. Thought it was a slight expensive for average... More

After travelling around, passing many fields of sugar cane and being lucky enough to be involved on a sugarcane harvester it was lovely to see how the end product is made. The talk and tour was very informative and seemed to be very popular. The poor lady selling tickets and manning the shop was also in charge of the small... More
