Great train journey

Left from Victor Harbour and wow the view is amazing in both directions . Have to love the beautiful old train . So nice to see something so lovingly restored.

Riding the cockle train is a great experience for all ages. Beautiful scenery along the half hour journey between Goolwa and Victor Harbor. Maintained and staffed fully by passionate volunteers, who do a wonderful job. May seem pricey, but understanding the upkeep it makes it all worth it. Definitely recommend if you are visiting this way.

The old steam engines and carriages are beautiful. A slow trip by the sea via four stops and back is immensely popular at summer holiday time. Do yourself a favour. Also dig up cockles at Goolwa for Fettuccine al Vongole - and swim in azure waters of Horseshoe Bay at Port Eliot. Fish n chips by the sea there too.... More

A true highlight taking you back to days gone by. Two different engines alternate. Steam most of the day. Only the last one might be diesel if they need to rest the steam one at the other end. Lovely seats, authentic decor and original windows. Ocean views for much of the trip. Only $30 per person makes it great value... More

This is a great trip on a classic train. The only downfall is the price $71 for a family ticket for what is 30min trip each way.

My wife and I had done this Cockle Train ride from Goolwa Train Station to Victor Harbor Train Station, and return. It was a truely great train ride - especially for me as I am interested in all steam trains. We were 'tutored' by their volunteer(s) about the history of this Cockle Train and the surrounding region that involved the... More

Rode the train to/from Goolwa in a driving rainstorm. We had a great time seeing the sites and chatting with the conductor. All three engines on this run were steam powered antiques. Memorable and would do it again. Prices are reasonable and the crew is all volunteer. We happened to be on the first run of "621 for 11 months."... More

This was suggested by a friend who knows that I love steam trains and so does her son. It takes a half an hour to get to Goolwa with stops in between that you can get off at Port Elliot and explore and get returning train back to Victor Harbor. Its ok as it goes along the coast at some... More

What a lovely old train, the girls enjoyed the nice rattle and bumpy ride with waving to everyone along the way. We went one way as long enough for our girls people running it were very nice and helpful

Our family thoroughly enjoyed a ride on the Cockle Train last Thursday. A family ticket is $71.00, Adults $30.00, Children over 4 years are $16.00 and Children 3 years and under are free. We used our Entertainment Card and received 25% off. We caught the 11am train from Victor Harbor to Goolwa. The views along the way of the coast... More
