The Cedars is well known as the previous home of Hans Heysen. It is located a couple of kilometres from the town, but a perfect location for a wedding. It was raining when we got there, but staff were on hand with umbrellas while they were needed.

Hans Heysen and his studio left in situ as when he worked there. You can also tour his house but we went for look at studio and followed a little trail to his favoured trees. Wow! Great gum trees! And atmospheric studio with some paintings in progress and some prints of what were clearly inspiration to one of Aussie's great... More

The tour was very informative, the art work was lovely, but several pieces have been damaged by water. Bags have to be left at the front desk, so if you have a large bag, you may want to leave it in your car.

What an awesome place. It provides a perfect place to showcase one of the greatest Australian artists, Han Heysen and his daughter Nora Heysen. Now in the hands of the Heysen Foundation, the two studios and the family home provide the perfect backdrop for original Hans Heysen and Nora Heysen originals. A very moving experience and one I will never... More

I have always admired Hans Heysen's paintings but to visit his lovely home and studio was a special treat. Nora Heysen's studio is also open to the public. The house contains many items of original furniture and paintings.

Volunteers run this lovely place of history. They were friendly and helpful. Artworks, property, house and studio of Hans Heysen and his daughter also an arist. A very short drive from Handorf. Parking area. Wander in gallery, old studio, Wander in the field and orchard. Wander in the gardens around the house. Sit a while at times. Donate something to... More

Located a kilometre or two outside the township of Handhorf in the Adelaide Hills, this simple but historic property will reward you with a history of the renowned artist Hans Hayson. The visitors centre has a display of some of his, and his wife's works, but the studio that dates back to the turn of the 1900's was the highlight,... More

lovely green gardens, peaceful, beautiful paintings and house kept in very good condition - you have a feel the painters left just few minutes before your arrival. so good to be in greenery not disturbed by crowds of tourist with selfie sticks which were the main sight in Handorf

I am not really into art but I found the tour very interesting. Was good to see his family try and keep the house as original as possible.... Its $10 for a full tour and i would recommend it

Sir Hans Heysen was a great SA artist and it is great that his legacy is kept alive by the Cedars, the place where he spent most of his life. A quick tour of some of the rooms of the main house (the rest is being lived in) was good, but a more extensive viewing of his Painting Room was... More
