This museum will likely keep young children entertained for a while, but teens and adults will be underwhelmed. They do show an interesting 3D film in their theatre, but it lasts all of 10 minutes. Somewhat disappointing, all in all.

Good information on whales and the history of whaling in Victor Harbour, mostly aimed at kids. Would recommend for kids.

Decided to make a day of it and visit this museum. It was only $24.50 for a family so figured why not? There was a lot of information, some interactive things for the kids and a 3D documentary, it was all very basic and nothing that really made us want to stay longer than about an hour. It was good... I don't usually post negative reviews yet the Whale Museum is not worth the effort. To charge $9 a head I found outrageous. Most museums are gold coin donation or free. To charge that outrageous entry fee is just gouging tourist. Once inside there are only a few displays and a video. The staff were as disinterested as the displays.... More

Whilst the entry fee at $9 is not much, there is not really a lot to see. We enjoyed the short video's on the Sea shepherd. Several stall were talking about the aquarium so we were looking for a large display tank, we could only find a 4 ft tank.

Plain vanilla artifacts and articles - nothing interactive and nothing special about the $$ you pay to get in. Definitely will not recommend visiting.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. We had some technical issues with our 3D Theatrette this week but it is up an running again now, If you are still in the area I invite you to come back if you wish to view it. It is a 10 minute film about Southern Right Whales in Patagonia, made... More

The whale centre is a great place for families with children big or small particularly during school holidays when they run special programmes for the children. The topics in the programmes change every holidays. Bookings are essential for these very popular programmes where they learn about all thing to do with our ocean environment.
