Was well worth it to come here for a short visit. Amazing building and architecture inside. They have tours you can sit in on that start in the actual Supreme Court on the lower level just around the corner from the security entrance. Bring an ID. I had to go back to my hotel to get one. Location is great...right... More

I worked for the State of Ohio for decades. Started in 1979. Back then this building was just another state office building housing various departments. Had desks and cubicles jammed all over the place. What was then what would become the courtroom were just rooms with desks. I took an Information Technology class in one of them at one time.... The Court is housed in a restored Depression era building which is worth a visit just to view the decorated ceilings.

The courthouse was renovated several years ago to restore it to the original plans. Security is tight and you need to show ID before vistiting. It is very cool.

This is a magnificent building built at the height of the industrial revolution and filled with art treasures depicting the history of Ohio from pre-historic times up to March 1, 1933, when it opened to the public as Ohio's first state government building. The movie Traffic starring Michael Douglas was filmed here. Today, The Lost Hero of 9-11, U.S. Marine... More

Building was completely renovated about 5 years ago. Beautiful exterior and is set on the bank of the river running through downtown Columbus. Interior of building contains many paintings and artifacts.

I went near sunset and they have some nice water features. One is a giant (and I mean giant) gavel. and other is a pool with fountain edges and words like honor rising out of the pool. Lost of benches nearby to just sit and relax. Behind the courthouse is the riverfront. There is a row of pergolas with bench... More

While touring around Columbus, OH I stopped at the Supreme Court building upon recommendation from a gift shop in the Court House. (Just a short walk from the Court House.) The outside of the building is nothing super fancy, but the large steel gavel that sits outside is a nice unique touch. Inside you will go through the normal security... More

Please note, the attached photo is the Statehouse not the Supreme Court Building. In small court yard there is a reflection pool with the worlds largest judges gavel, made of shinning stainless steel. The building is typical government construction but on the interior, I have not seen such splendor since visiting a King's palace. I don't think any expense was... More

Building itself is not very different from some other public buildings. However, several courtrooms are beautifully painted, with murals covering walls and ceilings. They represent history of Columbus, Ohio and some important events. We had a chance to hear explanations for these murals, which helped us to better understand their meaning.
