Ward's Lake or Nan Polok in local lingo is one of the few surviving remnants of British administration in the Khasi Hills. The lake being more than a century old is very popular with tourist and locals alike. In a city being run over by congestion, this is such a relief to one's lungs. The state govt is doing a... More

Shillong is a place which is always a one day trip from Guwahati. It took nearly 2 hr one side so if you start by 8 you will have a nice day out. Few days back I read about cherry blossom festival at shillong which was celebrated in the month of November. This is year it was celebrated from 14th... More

It's nothing overwhelming but a good place for visit. Calm, serene lake and surroundings. Cherry trees blossoming everywhere (in Nov). Good number of exotic and vibrantly colored flowers. Huge, ancient, well-maintained trees. The lake is situated right in the middle of city so getting here is no big deal. Entry fee of INR20 for Indians; cameras separate.

The Ward's Lake is situated very close to Police Bazar, Shillong. It is a man made lake with various flora and fauna. Ward's lake is good place for leisure for locals as well as tourists (after a tiring local sightseeing trip). One can enjoy here paddle boating, feeding ducks, carps etc. One of the good place in the heart of... More
