Aquaworld - Crete's first Aquarium - opened in Hersonissos in 1995 - near Bus Stop 20. It features local sea life and reptiles from Crete and from all around the world. Most of the animals are rescued or are unwanted pets which have found a new home at Aquaworld. Our philosophy is simple - bring people and animals closer together and, inevitably, people will begin to respect and care more about the animals!

This place is a hidden gem! My partner and I visited not sure what to expect, but we had a great afternoon! The staff were incredible, we got to hold snakes and get up close with reptiles which have been rescued! Was super cheap to get in, and there was no rush to get us in/out! Would highly recommend for... More

We visited here as a trip we walked from our hotel which was a good walk..quite expensive to get in..as it's not very big to be honest I wouldn't recommend visiting as you can walk round it in 5mins very small we did get to pay and stroke some animals but not worth the money

Fantastic little aquarium with a wide range of animals, plenty of snakes. The team are fab and really try to get you involved (not for me however) my little brother loved watching the lizards through the back jump around. Massive reptiles! However after half an hour you've seen it all

This aquarium is gorgeus, John and his team are marvelous. It is small, but very informative. About 10:30 is the feeding time. You van touch some animals, like the turtles or inguanas and snakes and learn so many thinks about sea life. A must for families with children and not only!

I stumbled across this little gem whilst visiting the town when on holiday. The aquarium was fab and you could interact with the animals. I did not because I was pooping my pants! One kid dropped a snake, that was very funny

Wasn't really sure what to expect when we visited this place but we spent a really lovely hour meeting all the different rescue animals and learning all about them. Make sure to head to the courtyard bit and meet all the different reptiles. The visit was absolutely made by Dimitri who isn't afraid to shove a reptile in your face... More

The man in charge is a Brit and has time to talk to all visitors. If you like to handle snakes and lizards then this is the place to be. No problem with taking your own photos as it is encouraged. Well worth a visit although it doesn't take too long to see everything. Premises are due to be updated... More

This little place is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover! on the outside this small aquarium & reptile centre looks like you could walk right by without noticing it but I urge you look twice. For a small entrance fee we were ushered into a courtyard area where we were told the reptiles were just about... More
