About
During a visit at Svalbard Bryggeri you will hear about how Svalbard Bryggeri became a reality, how former coal miner and pilot Robert Johansen got the idea about establishing his own brewery on the northern most settlement, Longyearbyen Svalbard, and what would be required to implement the dream. You will taste five different beers brewed on 2000-year-old glacier water from Bogerbreen.

What a great and fun experience!

We booked the beer tasting. We were only two people in the tour/tasting. Brianna was the best host we've had ever! She's super nice and fun to hang out with. She told us a lot of interesting stuff about the origin of the brewery as well as some background info on the founder. This was our best experience in Longyearbyen by far, thank you so much!!! We enjoyed it a lot!

Great way to spend an early evening

The tour as others have mentioned is really just a tasting, but it takes place in a bar overlooking the equipment so you're killing two birds with one stone. It was a really fun experience thanks to the high energy host Brianna and the fact that the beer is awesome. Thoroughly recommended as a way to spend a couple of relaxing hours after an excursion.

It´s not only the beer - its also the host - xtended version

If you are lucky, Brianna (from) Montana is guiding you through the evening. Nice stories to tell but it all depends on the Story Teller as well.

A shame that they didn´t have the Rav Lager. So i had to try different OTHER beers. The tasting ended after one hour 10 Minutes, the tour itself ... it´s been a while that we had so much fun.

A microbrewery in the Artic.
Jan 2020
We had, as a small group, a thoroughly enjoyable tasting session of beers brewed in the Arctic. In the past, as a company mining town, brewing was illegal but this guy, after a long battle, got the law changed! The result - a good microbrewery producing a limited range of excellent beers. It's worth visiting and supporting.

A must-visit!

Took this tour the day I arrived, and am glad I did so. The space next to the brewery is just right for a tasting, and the varieties of beer were not only plentiful, but each were amazing. Brianna is a great host and it was fun to have a chat with her beforehand since I arrived fairly early.

Fun tour with great beer
Jan 2020
We took this tour only a few hours after arriving in Longyearbyen and it was a great introduction to Svalbard. Our host Brianna was fun and engaging; she told us plenty of humorous tales about the brewery's founder and also explained the brewing process for each of the five excellent beers we sampled. The Svalbard Brewery is a unique place with a unique story - definitely worth a visit.

Just amazing

We did not take the tour, but went to the Friday open bar, which is where locals go to have a chill time. It takes 15 minutes walk by foot from the city center and it is not very easy to find your way but when you are there, you will be met with heavyweight-quality beer, friendly staff, and pretty decent prices (in Norwegian terms). Everything is modern and sleek, and we had a good time chatting with some locals, sipping delicious brews.

We booked this as our first visit in Svalvard. It was an absolutely stellar brewery tour. Can't recommend it enough. Best we've (me and my husband) ever been to. Really excellent value for money and famtastic beers. Thanks to the brewnaster Andreas!

Great place

This place isn't too popular, but it's worth to visit. Prices are acceptable. Beers are better than in the more brewery in Europe.

Relaxed and enjoyable

Svalbard Brewery is not big, you can easily see the entire brewery from above, viewing from a visitors room with a huge window. So, instead of the guided tour that you might expect from a brewery, instead we sat at tables and drank generous sized samples of several of their beers whilst being entertained by the fascinating life story of founder Robert Johansen, as well as the history and future ambitions of the northernmost brewery in the world. A really enjoyable evening.
