We did the 3 day Kongsfjorden Tour and had the best time ever. Our two guides Harry and Johanna made the trip with their knowledge and friendly personalities. The weather was perfect for the first two days but did blow up on day three but that did NOT diminish the experience, just added an exciting dimension to allow us to get a glimpse of what it would be like on a rough day. The views of glaciers and scenery were just breath-taking. Harry did go in for a swim and invited us in as well but we sensibly declined - too chilly for us but it was all part of the fun we experienced. Food was simple but great. If this was all not enough, the wild life co-operated as well. We saw 5 different species of whale, consistently over the 3 days. Plus seals, walrus, reindeer and a polar bear at a distance. If you get the chance - GO!!!!

Earlier in July I took an amazing trip with this outfit. The captain had to adjust the trip because of weather, but I really felt that he and our guide "milked" the best out of the weather that they could. Among the highlights for me were a magnificent day in the middle of a fjord with icebergs and walruses, a trip to Ny-Alesund, the northernmost city if the world, being able to fly my drone off a glacier, walking around an old whaler's graveyard in Magdalena Fjord, and visiting the nearly abandoned Russian mining town of Pyrimiden. Bjorner and Magnus were wonderful, and the food was excellent.

We had a great tour with Spitsbergen Guide Service, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others, especially for the unique opportunity to go to Ny Ålesund. The boat is small, but that means it can go fast and reach Ny Ålesund on a day trip. The entire crew is extremely friendly, and was able to point out much wildlife, from birds to walruses and reindeer. They are also capable mariners, well versed in small boat handling, and even handled a seasick passenger with grace. Although due to the seas we ended up having to turn around halfway to Ny Ålesund, our guides made up a new itinerary on the fly and we ended up having an enjoyable tour of Barentsburg and two different glacial bays, ending with the captain jumping into the water, right in front of the glacier! Be sure to ask if you can partake in a memorable arctic swim, if you dare! Anders was a particular delight, and we enjoyed his commentary and sense of humor throughout the whole trip. Would be interested in going on a multi day trip in the future. Note: If you are considering the Ny Ålesund excursion, please be aware that you will be spending a lot of time on the boat, possibly when it's a bit rough, so it is best if you know you are comfortable on small boats, or at least prepared with seasickness medicine.

The boat is small. No shoes allowed inside. The guides should put a bit more effort in spotting animals and entertaining the guests.

Hi mcdl_82, thank you for your review. We appreciate honest reviews that can make us even better with guiding and spotting animals. Our Targa boat 37 - it´s perfect shaped for Arctic conditions and is famous for its seaworthiness, safety and power, something that is very important when traveling on the oceans of Svalbard. It´s not always about the size. :) Have a nice day and welcome back to Svalbard! :) Best regards, Anniken
