Prof Nitrate engaged all age groups with his approach. My kids loved to assist. Informative and fascinating history - huge grounds and so much to think about.

Been here many times .............and have always enjoyed my visit.......Their annual VE Weekend was one of the best in recent years.......The weather was good......and the turn-out of re-enactors was very high indeed.......Each one had a tale to tell.....and everyone is so friendly......and eager to answer...More

I went with my parents, son and two nephews on the bank holiday; professor Nitrate was hilarious for the grown ups as well as the kids and he was totally the best bit about the day! Walking around and seeing everyone dressed in old war...More

Yes I think it's suitable for a 15 year old. I'm sure they would like the science shows and learning about the history of the gunpowder mills. There is a ride that goes the whole way round the gunpowder mills that lasts for... More

Hi. Yes we are open on the bank holiday Monday the 1st May. It is the biggest event day of the year so get here early as parking will become a problem later in the day. Have a look on the website for full details.
