Lovely place, small but interesting 1 to 2 hours needed to get around. Small gift shop, 1 family at a time during Covid.

Not the greatest. I appreciate that things need to be closed and changed due to Covid, but the castle was rather... Uninspiring. I'm a history buff and I love a good factoid - so I went to Deal castle hoping to read some: spoiler, there's very few. I spent an hour wandering around, which was pleasant enough, but then I left... Only to find I'd been issued a parking ticket. Placed on my windscreen. Next to my membership sticker... Everywhere the signage says 'Members don't pay for parking'. I went back into the castle only to be told 'Oh, you've got the wrong sticker, here's one with dates on. You can appeal it, but you probably won't be able to.' It has never been an issue elsewhere. Thoroughly disappointing.

Amazing to think how long Britain has been preparing to repel invaders and this Fort forms part of Henry VIII’s insurance policy against French advances. Not too much to see, but beautifully preserved and well worth seeing.

This castle is different from the earlier Norman castles found elsewhere. For a start, it is not ruined and one can get a good impression of life in the castle. It has a gloomy atmosphere (in a good way) and the views from the bastion are great.
