"Quirky" "unusual" "bizarre" - just some of the words I'd use to describe the Shell Grotto. It's a fascinating place, unlike anything you've seen before. The gift shop has a surprisingly wide range of items, very reasonably priced.

Made one wonder at the workmanship and why it was made. A vast collection of intricately placed shells, question of Faith perhaps?

Small and quaint nice gift shop selling a range of goods cheap to expensive. We were expecting something a lot bigger but it's a quirky place that took an hour to visit including shop and a drink

Unusual tourist attraction, an unexplained grotto with designs on the walls made of shells. Can speculate as to why they are there, but the question seems to be unanswerable. Staff are friendly and obviously enthusiastic about the site. Well worth the 4 quid and the...More

We went to Margate and ended up having a kind of 'George Clark's Amazing Spaces' weekend (Bus cafe, converted garage to stay in, and here -which was actually on the program)! Easy to find, and cheap to enter. Great little museum/ information part and a...More
