A chance to climb inside a windmill that is being restored to its original use. Interesting outbuildings with a wealth of old tools and farm machinery. Can't wait to see it again when the sails are restored and the mill machinery is turning again.

This is a rustic museum about rural life and crafts all set around the White Mill. The mill itself is currently under refurbishment (August 2018) but is still accessible. In fact, because of the work the entire top section is down at ground level giving a better than normal view of it up close. The museum itself isn’t ultra polished but its slightly haphazard approach fits with its rustic subject matter. We spent a good hour or so pootling around and had the place to ourselves. Admission was free and staff were friendly. We left a donation because we enjoyed ourselves but weren’t pressurised in any way. Worth a trip if you’re in or around Sandwich and it felt good to support a small, out of the way, local museum.

Can’t believe this is free! Great to see the history of this windmill and explore the surrounding buildings. Our 8 year old enjoyed the walk round quiz. Very friendly black lab on site who loves a fuss. A nice way to spend an hour and just a 15 minute walk from Sandwich centre.

Very well thought out museum based on an old windmill, a millers cottage, restored to its original appearance with period interiors and various other buildings and workshops. The cap is currently off the mill on the ground being repaired, which gives an opportunity to see how it was constructed and how the mechanism worked, and will work again.

Having not been here for some years, I visited a few weeks back. Very interesting and lots of conservation work still going on. Well worth a visit.
