there are some very interesting displays in the C13th century gatehouse and an excellent guide book. A stroll around the site and ascent on the motte is well worth while.

Visited the Civil War re-enactment event which was very interesting and fun. It is a good venue for events similar to this and for the recent Food and Drink Festival and the Castle is well maintained.

Well maintained castle. Nice and clean. Audio video about castle history very good. No disable access. Very clean picnic area. Play area for children. Boat ride also available but costly. Near by high street and good restaurants.

A beautiful example of a motte and bailey castle, the grounds are wonderfully kept, a lovely place to relax and explore. The castle tour is interesting and informative, recreating a moment in time for us to experience.
