Relaxed afternoon drinks
Aug 2020 • Couples
My husband and I enjoyed Friday afternoon drinks here recently. We hadn't been in nearly 2 years as we don't get to the area much now, but were happy to confirm that it is still our favourite pub in Kent - if not the UK!
We booked easily in advance via email. They have made sensible adjustments to ensure safety during lockdown easing- none of which take away from the relaxing atmosphere you want in a bar. We were able to view the wide slection of drinks on our phones (a paper menu was available also), but ordering was done in person- the landlady was always there just in time to take our order! I liked that there was still a personal touch.
The selection of beers on tap was excellent as usual and as the designated driver I was pleased to enjoy their grown up soft drinks!
We sat indoors, but the outdoors courtyard is really lovely too, and even though there had been some showers earlier the tables and benches were easily dried and many people less soft than us were happily enjoying their drinks outside!

Personal favourite bar as a local. A little expensive but with quality comes cost. I consider this worth the money. There is a wide range of gins and beer! Often I have sat in here for the evening playing one of the board games on offer. Usually busy but expected due to its local popularity

Smashes other micro pubs out of the park

Dropped in with the wife for a quick drink....heard it was good, been meaning to go for ages. The young bar lady was hugely knowledgeable about Gin and Craft beer....I have worked in booze for 30 years plus and she taught me loads. Range and flavours of gins was fabulous....the craft beers were good too, a wide range, better than many other local booozers. I would say fully priced for the area, but in a positive way....most gins unique, and the mixers were Fever Tree. Thanks guys for a lovely half hour !! We'll be back soon.

Great selection of gin & ale,at a price.
Mar 2020 • Friends
Cosy little bar slightly away from the main hubbub of Whitstable, next to the Playhouse theatre in the high st.
A very impressive, varied selection of gins with really helpful notes on the clipboard menu and recommendations of complimentary mixers.
The twelve craft keg beers on tap ranged from 2.8% for a table beer to over 8% for a porter and prices varied accordingly.
There was a sunny vibe in there when we went on a cold rainy day.
Gender neutral toilets is a no brainer,it wasn't that busy but if it was it would avoid a queue for the ladies.
Bar service was a bit uppity but I found that in a few other places in town, maybe it was meant as cool insouciance
My main reservation was the prices,a double gin with mixer and a pint of mid strength beer was £15
But definitely worth a visit.

Dinner with family
Feb 2020
We were in Whitstable to have dinner with family, always good to enjoy a pre-dinner drink we were taken to this very busy bar, nice and friendly staff who knew their gin's, we settled on 2 which were recommended and yes they were good, had a change on the second round and these were as good but very different, a good choice and would be happy to visit anytime we are in town.

It's always a great pleasure to arrive at The Twelve Taps in Whitstable. Run by a pleasant and intelligent couple, this bar offers an exceptional rotating list of craft beers as well as decent gins.
The atmosphere is never anything but gay and bright with a perceptible sense of excitement and pleasure!
Would recommend a visit to anyone...true brilliance

All about the Gin for me
Dec 2019 • Couples
I’m not much of an ‘ale’ drinker so it’s all about the Gin for me, and there is always such a fantastic choice.

As such the Twelve Taps is a must visit on a night out in Whitstable with the Gin of the week always a must

Surly staff, overpriced and not very nice beer
Dec 2019 • Friends
found myself getting ignored at the bar while the woman serving (apparently the owner) was all smiles with the big group of apparent regulars. When I was eventually served, answers were clipped and pretty unfriendly.
Another hipster place jumping on the bandwagon of overpriced craft booze.
Go if you’re a mate of the staff or the regular crowd, otherwise give it a miss.
