Excellent Cream Tea
Jun 2021 • Couples
Visited the tea room for a friends birthday treat. Had the Prosecco cream tea. The food both sweet and savoury was excellent. The staff were polite and helpful. Definitely worth a visit. The Gardens although small were nice and if your looking for a place to take the grandchildren there is an excellent newly installed Seaside theme play area and it’s FOC.

Wonderful morning with the grandchildren
Jul 2021 • Family
Met up with family at the castle grounds was quite busy but still managed to park 2 cars. The girls had their scooters and the grounds have good paths/roads to scoot on as it was dog friendly they had brought their dog. The girls wanted to go to the play park, lots of little ones enjoying themselves. The play park has all the safety in mind soft areas incase of falls, strong gates to stop the youngster's from escaping. They had a good hours play before they wanted chips and ice cream. Before the pandemic we had afternoon tea here with 10 of us, will be back one day soon to repeat the experience of both this time.

Great place to relax and have some food
Jul 2021 • Couples
I came here last weekend for some Tea and cake. Nice place to relax with a drink and some food. They have done a good job restoring this Castle, just a shame there not much to see. You can see some of the rooms upstairs but they are just empty rooms, unfortunately you can't go up the tower. Would be great if they allowed this with a small charge. But overall it's worth a visit as it's free to go

Delicious Afternoon Tea
Jul 2021
Enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea for 2 adults and a child, which at £60 total I thought was excellent value for money. Plenty of food and a variety of sandwiches, including child-friendly versions (cheese/ham/jam). Huge scones and a selection of tasty cakes. Service was friendly and efficient.
I observed the floor could have been swept in between guests as there was cake debris from previous guests, but other than that the venue was clean and tidy.
The gardens could do with some TLC as they didn't look their best with a lot of weeds and overgrown vegetation.
The children's play area was excellent, however the water feature was not in operation.

Small but very nice
Jun 2021
This is not really a castle but a building built to mimic one. It won’t take long to walk around the outside but there are also nice gardens.

There is a tea room that was very popular with tables at the rear of the castle on a raised grassy area.

Worth a stop.

I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your recent visit to the Orangery Tearooms at Whitstable Castle. Unfortunately you only booked afternoon tea for 2 - you would have received a very generous amount of food including fruit scones, finger sandwiches, mini quiche and cakes for 2 people. You would also receive a pot of tea for 2 which would be topped up numerous times during your visit; or alternatively coffee. On this occasion you were sharing 2 afternoon teas between 4 people. Hopefully we will see you again in the future.

Lovely gardens
May 2021
We didn't stop at the cafe, but our wander around the lovely gardens & reading about it's history was well worth doing.

delicious cakes, efficient and friendly service
May 2021
reading some of the 'terrible' reviews , I can only assume that there has been a staff turnover or re-training since they were written, as we found the service excellent, friendly and professional. I have known 'Tankerton Towers' most of my life and have attended many events there, including the annual May Day Parade, now sadly cancelled for the second year. It seemed strange to be sitting in the very place where the Morris Dancers used to perform! The waitress was very friendly and efficient and dealt with our slightly confusing order with extreme patience. The cakes when they arrived after a short wait were delicious , we were told locally baked. Highly recommended.
