Arrived at the royal to meet friends and on arrival greeted by staff and told them I was meeting friends who were already in the premises and advised as to who they where and were they are sitting, was allowed to enter to join my friends who had just been served a new bottle of wine. I then tried to order myself a drink which was refused being told that the table was booked out in 10 mins. Why would you serve a new bottle of wine when the table needs to be vacated in a short period of time without telling the customers unless they encourage people to drink at an accelerated rate and why allow entry to people to then refuse to serve them on the basis that the table they knew they were going to sit at was booked out with 10 mins of them sitting at it. Poor Poor service and a premises I will not return to and advice others not to as well. A same as a very inviting premises but obviously looks are deceiving.

Service here was excellent. Waiter paid attention and care. Food was rustic and delicious, my wife and I really enjoyed. Great sea view too.

Popped in for lunch one weekday afternoon whilst staying in Whitstable. So lovely! Very child friendly, excellent service with polite, cheerful staff and delicious food. We had the open scallop sandwiches which were really good. All enjoyed in the little front garden with sea views. Wonderful!

A refurbed place.. its lovely. Sat outside in the sun- slight wind but good and nice seating. Great view over the sea. Staff were lovely. The menu is good and I thought a good price. We had the wraps. Yummy, good size!
