About
Trent Lock is a major waterway junction where rivers and canals meet. It’s a good spot to view one of England’s awesome rivers - and a great place to spot boats too. Trent Lock is the first lock on the Erewash Canal. A large settlement grew around the lock because it was a busy meeting point of waterways. It became known as ‘Waters Meet’ by boaters.

Arrive By Boat
Aug 2017 • Friends
After a journey of 4 days to get to The Erewash Canal which included tidal waters and a lot of travelling on wide rivers it is lovely to finally arrive at Trent Lock with it's pretty tea rooms and get back onto a narrow canal with it's tranquil waters again

Beautiful walk
May 2016 • Family
Me and my partner took our 5 year old and 5 month old for a lovely afternoon stroll. I haven't visited for years but as a child visited all the time. It was such a lovely sunny day and we had a lovely walk. Our 5 year old loved it and wants to know when we are going again. The people are all very friendly too. Will definitely be back x

Relaxing
Mar 2016 • Family
Such a beautiful relaxing place, if the weather is right, good open spaces for the dogs and kids to run, lovely beautiful boats going by, see the lock in action and have a nice brew or two in the tea rooms in front of the lock. Just perfick.

Trent lock

It is lovely to walk down by the river at Trent Lock, the photography is great, and don't forget to take the dog with you as he will enjoy a good walk along the river ,The tea rooms are excellent, as are the restaurant, also a good walk down the canal will bring you to Long Eaton and it has swans and ducks for the children to see.

Spaghetti junction of hte waterways
Mar 2015 • Couples
Trent Lock is where the River Soar meets the River Trent, and where the Erewash and Cranfleet canals also reach the Trent. Consequently, it is the point where the counties of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby all meet. We visited on a lovely sunny afternoon and had a great walk alongside the Cranfleet Canal. There are at least two pubs plus some tearooms so there are plenty of opportunities to get refreshments. There is also a free car park and some loos.

Absolutely perfect
Stayed in a beautiful narrow boat (see AirBnb) and I agree with everyone else.

A very nice, calm and beautiful stretch of waterway with swans and ducks outside your front door.

No noise at at all, even at the weekend and everyone we meet have all been very friendly

beautiful place

What a lovely well looked after area. A pub, a restaurant and a tea room, what more could you ask for whilst out on a nice sunny stroll along the canal path. Lots of jolly boaters out with a happy wave and friendly greeting.

Lovely and peacefull
I often take my toddler here to feed the ducks and its such a lovely quiet place to spend an hour, bonus is he's mad on trains, planes and boats so it's perfect as you can see the trains going by into notts, watch the planes coming in and out of East mids airport and there are loads of canal boats moored up. It's perfect for us.
I also like the fact you don't have loads of dogs running around ( nothing against dogs but am wary with them around my 3 year old!). In the summer there are some tea rooms that are open and z couple of pubs (bit pricey)
Lovely little hidden gem and a bonus the parkings free and loads of spaces.

So peaceful
Sep 2014 • Couples
Wow what an amazing empty and peaceful space! Was great to wonder along the banks of the river stopping, occasionally, to look at the marvellous things around you. It is well worth a visit looking if you are looking for a little bit peace from the mad world outside.

It was nice for the walk and then to the local pub, see next review, for bathroom breaks and a lovely lunch.

Magic and heavenly.

Great walking...
Jul 2014 • Couples
Had a long walk down the Trent Lock Canalside this weekend. Lovely views, not too busy and plenty to do at Trent Lock. Two pubs to choice from, a tea shop and of course an Ice Cream Van. Plenty of free parking too. You can also walk to Sawley Marina from here if you wanted to look at some boats. Will be visiting again very soon.
