The Tanners Arms ale house features six handpulls which carry all-local real ales, judiciously chosen, fastidiously kept and a pleasure to sup; a good selection of whiskies to warm and revive every palate; regular live music sessions of all varieties; the most eclectic jukebox in Northumberland; and most important of all, a friendly, laid-back environment full of good crack and camaraderie. A good old-fashioned English pub, and a pleasant spot to while away an evening…

Popped in for a pint and found this wonderful wee pub by chance. Have since read the other reviews and they don't lie. Friendly staff, great beer, very comfortable atmosphere. Don't miss a visit if in Alnwick.

Secreted just outside the walls of the old medieval town of Alnwick I encountered this fantastic little pub whilst on a recent holiday. Comfy seats, plenty of elbow room, eclectic jukebox, amazing selection of competitively-priced drinks... icing on the cake was the friendly, cheerful staff!...More

Fantastic little pub, the real McCoy! Friendly landlord, well stocked quirky juke box, great ales, nice atmosphere. Really could not ask for more in a traditional English pub.

Popped in on a Saturday evening for pre-dinner drink and was very impressed. Staff and regulars friendly and there was a very good selection of well kept real ale. Really nice atmosphere and smart but traditional decor.

This is one of those pubs that make you feel right at home straight away. Knowledgeable staff recommended a good pint Red Kite, apparently an excellent choice and very well kept. Plenty of variety and an offer of a taster before purchasing a full drink...More

I was recommended this pub by a knowledgeable local. Great idea. It was quiet when I was there - warm, spotless, and the dogs were very laid back. I enjoyed the beer - no food but the nuts were OK. Wi Fi helped.

From the moment we entered the door we were welcomed by the bar lady who was full of craic and quality advice on drinks. We were immediately impressed by the variety of ales and single malts available in a relatively small bar. The warm, wood-burning...More
