Two granddaughters and my husband spent a couple of hours or more happily painting a varied choice of pottery. The pottery workshop is a lovely calm place to work in and was extremely well equipped, each work table was generously laid out with everything a budding artist could need. In addition there was a vast range of artistic materials available... More

For free and a private house still. Not an NT property. How the other half lives, although some of the Bentincks work for a living.

Very busy when we visited but is probably because is a lovely place to sit and have a coffee. Has a good range of things on the menu. A little pricey but is worth it. Enjoyed my visit and went again within the same week and was the same obliging service.

At present the Portland photographs etc are on view, showing many ancestors of the Portland family, painted by very well known and some lesser known artists. The buildings in which the exhibitions are housed have been very sympathetically built to reflect the original... More

Visited the Harley Gallery/Portland Collection again yesterday. A very pleasant young lady working in the exhibition rooms was most helpful and able to answer a few questions about the history of the estate, the hidden tunnels and the connections with Worksop. It was both informative and delightful to have such pleasant people on hand to help . The gallery and the... More

Superb new gallery with exceptional and varied contents. Who knew there were such gorgeous Van Dycks to enjoy in this part of the world! The displays are stunning and well thought-out: for instance, the extensive, high-quality collection of miniatures has very good magnifying glasses so it's possible to enjoy the details. Ample parking. The café was busy when I visited... More
