Really interesting place to visit however I wouldn't recomend it for very young children as they would probably get bored very quickly.

I live in Tamworth not far away from Claymills and have had the pumping station saved on my Trip Advisor must do list for well over a year but we had not got around to visiting. I noticed on Easter Sunday that they were having a steaming day so we took the opportunity to finally make a visit. Driving to... More

We visited on a Saturday on a non Steam Day so there weren't many visitors. We were offered a guided tour with Jacob, one of the volunteers. Jacob gave us an excellent tour. He was very knowledgeable and it was obvious that he had a genuine interest and enthusiasm for all the equipment and engines. He made the visit very... More

When they have steam up the pump house is really spectacular the size and majesty of the fly wheels and beam.there is also the smithy and other smaller engines normally running.

A wonderful insight into the ingenuity of Engineers of the past, also the way in which the whole site is being restored to its original workings by a dedicated group of workers and young engineers. Some of the machines were working but not in steam as the boilers are only used on certain days. My day out was to a... More

If you like stationary engine's and belt driven workshops this place is epic. Check the website for steaming days as you will be staggered by the number of engine's able to run under steam. Two huge boilers still in use great trying to fire them. Well my visit was for a club AGM. What a great place to hold an... More

We stopped off at the pumping station on our way home from a half term break at Alton Towers. At first we weren't sure what to expect, as the station was not officially open to visitors, but we were very pleased that we stuck around. Steve, one of the volunteers at the site offered to show us around, starting in... More

Great day out. The volunteers have done a wonderful job and it gets better every time I visit. Ask to see the bath house.

For an engineer a massive beam engine in full flow takes some beating. At the Victorian Claymills Pumping Station today there were three engines in full steam. They are in good hands. All the volunteer engineers I spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable and were clearly committed to caring and promoting these unique engines and the various ancillary equipment.

Great day. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Worth asking a member of staff for the secret tour.
