We went to an open day, great atmosphere, guides who know and care plus Roy on the dumper truck. Highly recommended for all, go and enjoy.

We really enjoyed the Steaming Day at Claymills - and full credit to the volunteers who have worked so hard to restore the two beam engines. I really enjoyed the fact that all the equipment on site belonged here, and learnt a lot about the site and the history of the equipment. Whilst most of the volunteers were very friendly... More

Our party of 11 enjoyed a visit to the pumping station on a "steaming" day, 29 October, where many steam engines of all types were in operation. The sheer power of the main pumping engines was marvellous to behold, and gave an impression of what the first steam engines much have given to those seeing them for the first time... More

Fantastic example of how steam powered so much for the Victorians. Very interesting and the passion the volunteer workers show for the machines is second to none. They are very dedicated people and thank goodness we have people like them or all of the history on this site would have been lost for ever. Not to be missed if you... More

Easy to access from the canal - as we arrived by boat 5 minute walk. All volunteers made us very welcome. The engines were beautiful even to me as a woman with little knowledge of them. My other half would have happily stayed for a whole day and was really impressed by the whole place. The buildings and history are... More

This museum is good entertainment for a few hours. There is quite a lot to see and their are one or two treats, occasionally you can ride a steam engine. But you must have a bath after - smuts aaagh111

Visited on a steaming day and plenty of engines in steam not just the hugely beautifully restored pumping engines. Access to pretty well everywhere which was great. The volunteers looking after the engines were all happy to chat and explain what was going on. Nice little tea shop to take a break and a bite at.

This is the most enjoyable experience to visit fully restored and fully working pumping steam engine. Well worth a visit it's a master achievement to all the volunteers who helped to restore this attraction. Well worth the entrance fee and if your a taxpayer they can claim a little more cash. Please support an amazing project.
