We went to the Rose Theatre to see a one-off performance by Gyles Brandreth. Intimate didn't begin to describe it! We were in the back row of the Stalls and it still seemed like we were almost sitting on the stage. I really enjoyed being so close to the performance, even for a one-man monologue show. Imagine what it must... More

I've been to the Rose theatre many times, although it's a relatively small and modern theatre, it has potential to hold very good productions, favourites have been Hetty Feather few years ago and the christmas productions such as "the lion, the witch and the wardrobe" and the beautiful " a Christmas Carol". The visual effects and production was surprisingly more... More

The somewhat mismarched look to cafe area should not put you off from this theatre and the variety of performances it puts on. The service was very good throughout our visit, the atmosphere relaxed, and play good. Since then we often visit theatre for lunch when in Kingston to get away from noisy eating places.

Very poor attempt at comedy , dire so called acting , a character called hope was hopeless , the entire experience was extremely disappointing to say the least. A very poor attempt at depicting how older citizens react to a situation . If you have trouble sleeping go and see this , however you would possibly find it cringe worthy... More

This was my first visit to this theatre. Its very modern and the seating is comfy, however the "double seats" are a bit strange,(no arm rest either) so make sure you are sitting next to a friend as it could be uncomfortable if the other person fidgets! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the very large pot of tea... More

Began slowly and I didn't find too much to laugh at, however picked up gradually and the second half was brilliant. I could barely hear Sheila Reid - and neither could the man sitting behind me as he kept saying 'what did she say'? Theo Toksvig-Stewart was fabulous, best in show for me. Overall well worth seeing.

We saw this play on the opening night. As well as being poorly acted -and on occasions almost inaudible-the subject matter was an odd choice to be made into a comedy. I could see nothing remotely amusing in a portrayal of life in a care home. The soliloquy from the Alzheimer's sufferer to the effect that it wasn't too bad... More

This is an intimate theatre with good views of the stage and brilliant seats in the front row of the pit for anyone with long legs or stiff knees. Accessible and welcoming. It is in the heart of Kingston with lots of bars and restaurants around. At the end of the show a swift exit will get you to the... More

I have tried a few times to find shows I'd like to see here, so last night we went to see the comedy by Sandi Toksvik called Silver Linings. It was so disappointing - some of the actors had voices that we could hardly hear and some of the acting was not good. the story was flimsy and the humour... More

With friends we have just seen 'Silver Lining' written by the very quick-witted Sandi Toksvig. My advice would be to give it a miss. Very disappointing. Acting was mediocre - they frequently tripped up over each other's lines. Unfortunately you can see the jokes coming a mile off. The plot is predictable. A big let-down from the usually talented and... More
