Been here many many times but popped in this weekend to see the temporary exhibition upstairs in particular. South Shields landmarks made out of lego. It was very good. The museum on ground level is interesting to the visitor. It houses a number large spiders...More

WE went here hoping to see much more about Catherine Cookson. Only a small corner is now dedicated to her & the exhibition was quite poor

Good museum learned a lot staff explained where to go and have us a map.We donated in the gift box but no charge to go in. Had a Lego exhibition in and children were playing with Lego this is a good idea. Have a cafe...More

Interesting displays and artifacts, nice cafe and pleasant staff. I've been popping in and out of here all my life and there are always interesting and nice things to see, whether you're a educated historian or a child. Great, well done.

Popped in here after seeing a leaflet for a local buildings lego display at the arbia roman fort Yet again another free activity the town has to offer and a great place to pop into It's not the biggest museum and all local history exhibits...More

This is a lovely little museum, plenty of exhibits and all of it free. The snakes,spiders and lizards section is a bit random in the midst of all the other exhibits of local history! Well worth a visit for information and a trip down memory...More
