We live about 10 - 15 minutes drive away, so this a fairly regular destination if we fancy a nice walk, and maybe a coffee. The gardens are beautiful and quite extensive. They often have free art or history exhibitions. Although the house is largely a ruin, it is very picturesque and it's well worth going on a conducted tour... More

Had a lovely afternoon at Nymans Gardens to ensure we saw the Camellias this year. Gardens so well cared for, good almost any time of year. Highly recommended. House was open this time which was a lovely treat as I hadn't seen this before - what a lovely home ! Cafe child and wheel-chair friendly with good range of lunch... More

This was our first visit to Nymans but certainly not our last! The gardens are huge and have a fantastic variety of of plants, tress and things to do. Be prepared for lots of walking but if this doesn't bother you, the different areas of the gardens are stunning and making the extra effort to get down as far as... More

We arrived too late to see inside the ruins of the house, but the gardens are so beautiful and well cared for. The woodland walk - dogs on a lead - is even more lovely and well tended. Bluebells and cuckoos. Perfect signs of spring. You get the best views if you walk to the end of the gardens towards... More

Fortunate to visit this garden on a warm, sunny day when the Messel's collection of camellias, rhododendrons, magnolias and azaleas were at their best. Stunning against a clear blue sky with blooms on the magnolias the size of tea plates. Quite a naturalised area. A walk through the woodland brings you to open views across a valley - beautiful. The... More

We spent a lovely warm sunny April day in the gardens. The spring flowers and blossom were a picture. The views over the open countryside were far reaching. Parts of the house was open and the family history is interesting. The Cafe was good and plenty of seats outside. Well worth a visit.
