This is your only option if you are driving your own car to or from Tasmania. Luckily it is a great service and the cabins and seating etc are fine. The food service is also good.

Slow to board and late to leave due to circumstances beyond their control. Once onboard the recently revamped ship was comfortable and had all we needed. The food was pricy but ok. The recliner chair seating arrangements could be easier to navigate. Basically you purchase a recliner but you are unable to book a particular seat like you can when... More

Getting your vehicle on and off the ferry can be a challenge. This is because the staff helping act as though all drivers are the enemy, not the customers. I was stopped by one guy who pointed forward and send "Move across and park behind the white car". There were two white cars ahead and across, each at the end... More

really convenient way to get over to Tasmania, left after work and school, kids watched a movie in the cinema on board and then bed in our cabin, they loved the bunks. Wake up the new morning in Tasmania ready for a full day. we got good weather so very easy crossing.

What a great crossing from Melbourne to Tasmania! Really great ship with lovely staff! Plenty to do - cinema, arcade, kids area, TVs. Good food at the restaurant on board! Comfy cabin beds! Lovely experience!

We came to Tassie with our caravan for 4 months of travelling and the Spirit of Tasmania was awesome. We had a deluxe cabin for our overnight voyage from Melbourne to Devonport and then again the same on our return to the mainland. The staff were all so friendly and professional. We had drinks at the bar, dinner, a bottle... More

I travel on the Spirit about 12 times year and know it well. Last year the two ships were internally refurbished and I think they are considerably improved. There is more table seating but less lounge chairs on the main Deck 7, more open space, the noisy PA entertainment has moved upstairs from Deck 7, Deck 10 is considerably more... More

Fantastic trip across in march 2017.Must have been the smoothest seas ever! The staff were great and the bunk beds comfortable, apart from a friend falling off the top bunk! The motorbikes were securely fastened and the on/off procedure was a breeze.See you next year !
