Great being able to experience the combination of sailing in Macquarie Harbour and being able to see the beauty of the World Heritage Area from the Gordon River, being able to travel further along than the other cruises available. Trevor and Rob were both very knowledgeable, interesting and overall good hosts. The trip also involves a very short walk to... More

Overall we really enjoyed the trip, but beware - we went on the overnight rafter collection trip, which was still almost as expensive as the other overnighter. What happens is that effectively for the return part of the trip you have standing room only on the yacht because it is full of returning rafters and the deck is full of... More

We did the "rafter collection" overnight trip into the World Heritage Area. Ironic that this is the only reason the boat is allowed into the wilderness area, as the tranquility of the surroundings at the mooring was completely shattered by the rowdy rafters partying next to the yacht. Also despite being billed as a sailing trip, the boat travels under... More

We chose the overnight cruise up the Gordon River . Highly recommend this to everyone. For someone with creaking knees I had no trouble with the stairs . Left at 1pm and cruise up the Harbour with our very experienced CAptain Trevor giving a full description of the surrounds and lots of stories. StormBreaker is very comfortable . The bunks... More

We signed up for the rafter pickup (the only option available that night). This gave us the chance to sail much further up the river than the standard cruises. It was fun and fascinating. Trevor (Captain) and Rob (Mate) were knowledgable (about boats, the fishing industry, local history), passionate and did their best to make the trip special. For a... More

We had a bumpy windy wet blustery flight from Hobart into Strahan late December, Meggs had ordered our taxi from the airport to the dock, had our salad roll lunches ordered and waiting for us, we stowed our extra bags in the cruise centre, boarded the Yacht and we had farewelled the shores of Strahan and enjoyed the many tales... A group of 6 (my wife and family friends) booked the overnight Upper Gordon cruise and had we known what the experience for the price truly entailed, we would not have made the booking. While it was labelled a 'rafter collection', we soon found only 6-7hrs in to our idyllic cruise this involved anchoring with a rowdy group (approx 20... More

Whether you enjoy being on the water or are generally a landlubber, the excursion sailing on Macqaurie Harbour, cruising up the Gordon River aboard Stormbreaker [much further than the enormous catamarans are allowed to travel] and sleeping the night on board after collecting a group of rafters is a truly wonderful experience. The scenery - especially in the upper reaches... More

Had a lovely time on the evening crayfish dinner cruise on Boxing Day. Ticket included crayfish (rock lobster!) which was served on the boat with salad and for dessert there was a fruit salad with cream. Nothing fancy but very nice, and the cray was so fresh and tasty! We were offered the chance to fish or kayak, which we... More

The wilderness experience of sailing up the upper Gordon River in the World Heritage Area was nothing short of spectacular - by being on the yacht for 24 hours we were able to experience all the different scenes of the beautiful forest and cliffs - we awoke to a misty morning view and then by lunch we were mesmorised by...
