We did the full day trip to Queenstown return and had a wonderful day. The staff were great and provided lots of extra information about the train, the stations along the track and the surrounds. The train was stunning as were the views we saw as we trundled along on the rack and pinion assent/descent. Beautiful food and drinks (all local) were served regularly, and the young conductor- as well as serving drinks and food stuffs, entertained us greatly with the story of the original two copper giants who opened up the land there. The "River & Rainforest" trip is running during winter. Leaves at 10:00am and returns at 2:00pm. This is such a well organised and interesting trip. From the greeting onboard and a glass of Tasmainian champagne you are set for a great day. The beautiful scenery is outstanding and the food served onboard is delicious.
