Werribee Park is a truly unique property with many stories to share. From Aboriginal communities that are known to have wandered the area, to the arrival of Scottish immigrants making their fortune in the 19th century and subsequent use as a seminary by the Catholic Church, Werribee Park offers an authentic insight into three facets of history. Step into the Mansion and experience the opulence of the 1880's whilst listening to the chatter of the Chirnside family with an audio headset tour (fee for mansion entry applies). Take a stroll to the original farmyard where rustic bluestone outbuildings provide a stark contrast to the craftsmanship of Chirnside mansion. Wander through the unique riverine, journey through the contemporary Werribee Park Sculpture Walk or stroll through 10 hectares of beautiful formal gardens and open space park land. Only 30 minutes from Melbourne, take a walk at Werribee Park, today.

A visit to the Werribee Mansion enables one to get a comprehensive understanding of how about the wealthy lived in Colonial Victoria. I found the display of household servants livery and responsibilities particularly interesting.

A gorgeously restored 19th Century Mansion showcasing life for a wealthy pastoral family. The grounds are superbly maintained and very peaceful. Very informative staff. Cafe run by the Hotel (separate from Mansion) has a limited selection of food, but service can be slow. Picnics are definitely the go with a young family. The State Rose Garden and Werribee Open Range... More

A beautifully restored mansion with 40 of the 60 rooms open to the public for viewing. There is also a wealth of information of the life and history of that era as well as a very detailed display of the incredible restoration of this magnificent site. Nice food in the mansion cafe too. A visit to the Rose Garden next... More

An interesting large mansion maintained and preserved to a high standard with beautifully kept flower beds and interesting trees. The large rose garden was in bloom as well. Must have been a great place to live. The cafe was good with quite big portions, even though we shared. There was a large room set out for a wedding which looked... More

This is a hidden gem in Werribee. Back behind the shops is the river. And it appears that not even locals utilise it's beauty for picnic spots. Well worth a lovely bike road or a walk along. Could pack a picnic too, as parking is close by.

We never get tired of taking friends and family to Werribee Park to stroll through the beautiful manicured gardens and see the historic mansion. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of yesteryear.

We explored this area when staying at the Mansion Hotel, a great place to learn about some early Victorian history and glimpse the area pre European settlement.

Spend a leisurely few hours exploring inside the Werribee Mansion and step back in time to a much simpler and majestic time in australian history, The rooms are decorated in that era with authentic examples of this period. It will cost you just under $10 per adult to get inside the mansion, i personally thought that this was not too... More

Beautiful large park with lots of places for family's to have get togethers. Plenty of BBQs, toilets and tables (to ensure everyone is taken care of). Parking wise - you won't have any problems whatsoever and it's free. There is the Victorian State Rose Garden within the complex, which is extremely large and picturesque. (Free entry) The Mansion itself is... More
