This golf coarse is the cream of the crop, outshining some of the best of
The best courses in the world including Dublin courses , the greenbrier you name it that I’ve played and it’s in such a tiny small knit community as Howard . The guys at the club house as well are spectacular and treat everyone like royalty and with dignity and respect answering every question you have. Oh and there breakfast holy hel$ I was blown away simply put, it doesn’t look fancy but the flavor will blow you out of your seat . Bob Evan’s on steroids , those eggs for sure were blessed by the priest and the bacon cooked by jesus himself!! Honestly I was shocked how friendly everyone was and how beautiful this coarse is. I’ve heard mention of it 100’s of times throughout the years with no time to play it and I’m really regretting this after the fact . I highly recommend making the time such a fun golf weekend getaway. Oh and one last thing if u Airbnb a house on apple valley lake just a few minutes away you can enjoy the beautiful amenities there also a win win with beautiful views of multi million dollar homes , fishing , or just relaxing on your kayak’s with the family!!

I have a hard time breaking 100 for 18 holes. After a round on this course, you feel as if you earned whatever you get. None of the holes are impossible for duffers like me and I consider it a fair test of golf for the average golfer. It might be a little less challenging for better golfers but the 10th hole will give anyone a chall.enge

This is a gorgeous golf course . . my husband golfs there about twice each week in golf season. There is a very nice pro shop and a restaurant, too! This is a family-owned facility and we are so proud to have it in our area.

We enjoyed the scenery and the course wasn't extremely difficult. They had a terrific pro shop and were treated well. I can't give this course any more than three stars because the play was extremely slow. We left after playing 15 holes because of it.

I posted this review and included a link to googlemaps to show the aerial view of the Clubhouse, Driving range, and fairways for 1 and 18, so you could see what I was trying to warn about. But, Tripadvisor said I can't post a link, because they claim it is commercial. So, you will have to "googlemap" Apple Valley Golf Course yourself.
20 years ago, I used to play Apple Valley when we stayed at the condos next door. It's a nice course, and I enjoyed it until the last time.
Here's a heads-up . . . (literally).
Look at this layout:
(googlemap Apple Valley Golf Course, and look at the position of the driving range, just outside the clubhouse)
The hole at the top is 18 coming back in, and the hole at the bottom is 1, going out. What's in the middle is the driving range.
Do you see any nets protecting golfers on 1 and 18 from those hitting on the range?
The last time I played, I was addressing my second shot on 1, facing away from the clubhouse and the tee box on the range. I heard the click of a driver-hit on the range, and the next thing I remember is waking up on the ground 15 or 20 minutes later. I looked up at the tee and saw a couple dozen carts, with guys waiting to go out in league, which is why I had gone out when I did, to get in front of them.
The guy who had been hitting on the range was gone.
No one came to check on me, and when I managed to get back to the clubhouse, disoriented and goofy, the guy behind the counter said, "Are you the guy that's been laying on the first fairway?"
I went back to the condo, my wife said OMG, and took me to the ER.
When I got back home, Kansas City, and saw a specialist, he said I was lucky I survived that hit.
(The date of this experience was not December, 2018, but I had to select something in order to post.)
20 years later, I still have a soft spot on the right side of my head, and it still hurts.
Just keep that in mind when you're on 1 and 18.

Wow, I wasn't here when that happened - since it was so long ago - but obviously that's a terrible accident. I will say in all the year's I've been here - and some balls do get hooked into #1 fairway but not a ridiculous amount - I've never heard of anyone getting hit.
As far as putting up a net on number one, since the fairway drops sharply off the tee area there's no net we could get that would be high enough to account for the elevation drop and balls would still be able to clear it. Big, high slices off number 1 tee would carry into the driving range - which they do often - and players would have no way to get to their ball. Plus, as mentioned before, yours is the only incident like that we've ever heard of. If there was a rash of people getting hit we'd probably have to just shut down the driving range completely since we have no other option to locate other than where the original builder put it.
I'm extremely sorry about you accident and wish I had been here when it happened and I would have assisted you in getting immediate medical assistance. If you ever make it back to Apple Valley, please look me up and I'll make sure your golf is on us. I realize that doesn't make up for the situation you've been through but we'd definitely like to to something to show our concern with how that played out.
Sincerely,
Mark

You will find Apple Valley listed on LakeLubbers.com They forget to mention that the are, though beautiful, it is private for residents. But you can look :) This area was built less than 40 years ago and has beautiful vacation homes and spotless beaches that will spoil you. I plan to sell my house, move there and commute to Columbus for work - well, I can dream. A bit of paradise in the middle of Ohio.

The lake and its beaches and amenities are indeed private for land owners only but the golf course is public and anyone can play it.

I very much enjoyed the three rounds of golf that I played here. An even more pleasant surprise was the quality of the course restaurant. I play a lot of golf and I've seen the range from dirty water hot dog snack bars to elegant multi-course dinners served on linen. The Apple Valley Restaurant offers breakfast and lunch, and for the week that I was there, they did a brisk business. Everyone seemed to enjoy the quality of the food as well as the service.(And I can add my name to that list) Together, they made for a wonderful golfing experience.

This course is far away for me but, I enjoy this course tremendously. The times I have played, the course is always well maintained. It's worth every penny you pay. If I lived closer, I would play it more often

Challenging enough to give scratch golfers a great game, but not to the point that it is not enjoyable for high handicap golfers.

A PGA quality course in Knox county, with a wonderful breakfast, and a beautiful view. We often head here in the evening to enjoy beers on the porch in a scenic environment. Also great for events! The graduation party I held was top notch thanks to the flexibility of the owners in making my vision come to fruition. Highly recommend!
