Great place to visit, along with the historic sites administered by the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a mile or so to the north Together, they give a glimpse of what life was like in the region in the early 19th century.

Have always enjoyed our visits to the Kirtland Temple. A must see for the LDS crowd. Last week the temps were cool and the leaves were changing. Great stuff. Take the tour

The temple in Kirtland was originally build by members of the Latter-day Saint church. Today it is owned and operated by the Community of Christ. They conduct tours of the building and also have a nice museum at the visitor's center. This is a unique building and has been given several historic recognitions over the years. One of these recognitions... More

This temple is owned and operated by the Community of Christ. It has historical significance for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as well, as many significant events in Church History happened here. You can take a tour for a small fee ($5.00), and it is well worth your time. Tours run at specific times,... More

A remarkable tribute to the faith and dedication of the Latter-day Saint founders. It's not owned by the LDS anymore but still an amazing piece of their history and testimonies of their religion. We also went down the road to the Historic Kirkland Site.....another place not to miss. They just go ha d in hand and are right together. A... More

The Kirtland Temple is not only important to Latter-day Saint history (Mormon), but also tells the story of northeastern Ohio in the 1830s. Tours begin at the visitors' center and are on the half hour each hour from 9:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. (with the exception of 12:30). The tour is about 60 minutes beginning with a short film explaining... More

Full disclosure: I am not LDS and am in fact ordained in another denomination. However, I have always been interested in the history of the Morman movement and had wanted to see the Kirtland temple for a long time. I didn't realize that it was no longer owned by the main LDS church but by the community of Christ (the... More

This was on our places to visit. It is a beautiful 1800s building with much history. Our guide, Nancy, was very knowledgeable about the history and was most gracious. The surroundings are peaceful. The adjacent museum and gift shop were worth visiting.

The Kirkland Temple, owned and operated by the Community of Christ, is open to the public for tours at a suggested "donation." Not sure of the availability of the tour without the payment of the "donation."
