We did not know much about the cold war history. We wanted to go to the Mound in Miamisburg and check out what it was all about. Most of it was factual stuff - but pretty interesting - if you did not know that it happened right in Ohio. Not a thing to take your kids to - they would be bored.…

I've seen in the pictures of the other travelers that there was some kind of an ugly fence around the observation deck. I'm glad they removed it and they put some nice benches to sit on and enjoy the view. It's true, there is not a lot to do there, but a lot to think about!

The Miamisburg Mound is an important clue to cultures and civilizations living in this area long before european immigrants came to the western hemisphere. Check it out, along with many more mounds in this corner of western Ohio.

After reading the historic signs, climbing to the top of the mound, visit the Cold War discovery center across the street. Fascinating look at one of Ohio's former nuclear research center.
