Fantastic collection of every type of merry-go-round creatures. A ride on the merry-go-round included. Period music from paper rolls. So many exhibits and information about merry-go-rounds including construction, carving, and volumes of history. A must see stop even if you are not a merry-go-round enthusiast.

Worth the visit. Interesting old building. Had a large amount of hors s and animals that were from the early 1900's. Very interesting and informative. Got a ride on the Merry go round with the ticket price.

I took my daughter here years ago and was happy to be able to take my granddaughters.

They enjoyed looking at all the animals and watching the on site carver.

We thoroughly enjoyed the museum. The ladies on staff were very knowledgeable of the items on display. Even got to take a nostalgic ride on a carousel (included in the price of admission). Inexpensive, clean, fun and entertaining.

This museum was in the city of Sandusky Ohio and was inside of a US Postal Service building that was quite old and converted into this museum. Sandusky city is known for having miniature light houses scattered about the city and in front of the merry go round museum or also to light houses with themes of carousels. There is a handicap entrance into this museum in the back. This museum also sponsors events for baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties, reunions etc. as there is a party room on the same level as the museum. When we went to the museum there are docents, that are volunteer and they may or may not know a lot about merry go rounds and carousels and horses etc. but they surely do try to have that knowledge and impart that on their tour. The entrance fee is nominal, and it does include a ride on the merry-go-round which is a county fair style merry go round and there are multiple types of animals on the merry go round and also stationary bench or chariots if you don’t wish to go up and down on the animals. Keep in mind this merry-go-round goes quite fast as typical carousels spin at a rate of 3 to 4 miles an hour this carousel spins at 9 miles an hour. There are a lot of old carousel horses on display, there’s also a gentleman who works at the museum and creates new carousel horses and he’s on display showing how he fashions a new horse. There is also a horse where you can write your initials on it and there is a gift shop. It was a really great time and we would go back if in the area.

A good stop if near the Sandusky area. Large collection of carousel animals dating back to early 1900's. A couple of gentlemen were also working on repairing a smaller motorized carousel and making new carousel horses. We really enjoyed the carousel ride that was included with admission price. Staff was very friendly.

Be sure to stop by while in the area. This former US Post Office building is the perfect setting for the Merry-Go-round Museum. There is so much to see here and you get to ride on a historic carousel.

This museum contains genuine craftsman works of art. The old carved and intricately painted merry go round animals are truly beautiful pieces. a ride on the carousel in the middle of the museum is included in the cost of the visit. A visit wont take a long time but is well worth a stop.
