If you have a child obsessed with fossils, this might be a good stop but not a great deal to see. There is a nice bike path around the park that leads to another park as well.

I only live less than a mile away we have visited with the local and out of state Grand Kids. It is one of the few places in the USA you can dig and remove what you find so the kids love taking home what they find. The kids love it and it is a good excuse to dig in... More

Great place for walking on well maintained paved bike paths. Great views of a rock quarry that can be walked down into and hunt for fossils.

I took (1) 6yr old and (2) 3yr olds, the attention span was difficult to manage. I would set a minimum limit to 5yr old and better. Bring an old toothbrush and small basin to hold some water for cleaning items found. The visit will foster a lot of interesting observations. Note: My Father-in-law use to answer questions (about anything... More

This pretty park has a smallish area for "digging" but no shovels please. the kids had fun once they found their first fossil. we were only about an hour away so that was good, anything more would have been a disappointment. There is also a beautiful park with walking/jogging paths. you could spend the whole day if you are nature... More

Came here with my girls and it's super fun. Found a few handfuls of fossils and rocks with shell designs in them, some tiny, some big. They should lay better material down so as to better find more fossils though. Bring your own spades as they had some there left out but didn't seem to want anyone to use them.... More

I took my kids on a warm day in October of last year. It was about a 2.5 hour drive and I really had no real expectations of what they would fine. I was hopeful they would find something and they certainly did. I see one person complaining about how it's a terrible park because "they" are an expert fossil... More

We were looking for something to do that wasn't too far away and we found this little gem. The kids enjoyed looking for fossils in this little area(OK, mom & dad did too). They have covered picnic tables if you want to sit and watch or even bring a snack or lunch. You can't use shovels, picks, etc, just gotta... More

Just fun place to take young kids. Fossiles are plenty and easy to find, and the fossiles found can be taken to home.

Fossil park is really great to take kids and teach them about the ancient sea beds. You can find some neat fossils here and it doesn't cost anything to hunt. I recommend taking a jug for water, a rinse bucket and a toothbrush for cleaning rocks. Also wear old shoes because you WILL get dirty.
