Well managed reserve

Great wildfowl reserve especially for bad weather. The observation tower gives excellent views of the fields and sea. Reserve staff are very friendly and helpful.

I visited in March 2017.It was quite easy to find with ample parking. It is very well designed reserve with both small lakes around the reserve buildings, which house a small captive collection of waterfowl, and hides giving great views of the surrounding wetlands and the wild birds. Remarkably there is no entrance fee but plenty of good information and decent... More

Plenty of parking, free to enter and well laid out areas by the National Parks service. Several small lakes housing varieties of birds. Observation stations, stairs to viewing boxes not for the infirm, but worth the effort. For late September, not a great deal to see. Ducks and a few Canadian geese are here now, with coots and herons soon... More

There are lots of interesting exhibits and videos inside and of course some great bird viewing areas. When we were there there was a butterfly and insect catching event on. This was great fun and the kids learned a... More

Brought the kids to the pond dipping and bug catching on Tuesday morning. Well signposted so not hard to find. The two guys on duty, Niall and John, were very helpful and eager to answer the kids questions. Kids loved it. Learned a few things myself. Recommended for 6 to 12 year olds.

While I realise, July may not be the best time to visit, I was left a little underwhelmed by the whole thing. The only advantage is that access is free! Staff were no where to be seen and I got the distinct impression that they liked to have it that way! The observation tower and the hides are kept in... More
