Awful! My review very much mirrors markgU2387ZZ - we were on the same tour. To be called a "tasting tour of German Village" is beyond inaccurate; false advertising at best. There was very little tasting and it hardly resembles the tour description. Sheila, the tour operator, is very scattered and disorganized - arriving late, shuffling her sheaf of loose, handwritten... We thought we were taking a food tasting tour of German Village establishments. Our first taste was served by the operator on small paper plates in the Meeting House. It consisted of some deli turkey with cream cheese, two slices of pepperoni, two bites of pickled beets and a cracker with cheese on it. An hour later we were given... More

Thank you for joining us for A Tasting Tour of German Village and thank you for your comments. On the day of our tour, the temperature was in the 90s. I am sure that colored your perceptions. Our tours are tasting tours, not restaurant crawls. Our goal is to put food in context of the society it comes from and... More

My husband and I took the Ethnic Market Tour provided by Sheila Campbell. We enjoyed the afternoon learning about the various ethnic markets in the area and their specialties. We saw things that we had never seen. Each market had its own uniqueness. We both enjoyed the tour.

I attended a Kitchen Clinic hosted by A La Carte Food Tours May 9th, 2015. The clinic was all about cake. The host Sheila Campbell was so enlightening and knowledgeable about cake! We tasted a variety of cakes (I think 5 total!) and learned about the Chemistry and ingredients in cakes. Great tips and helpful skills were demonstrated so I... More

Sheila is spectacular! She is so knowledgeable and arranged a tour for us in short notice. She picked us up at our hotel, traveled and nibbled our way through North Market, drove through German Village learning about the history and tasted the best fudge. Then ended our time Mead tasting with live music. It was a joy to spend the... More

My parents came into town recently and we went on Sheila Campbell's culinary tour of German Village. I have been living in the Village for four years. Despite this, I knew very little about my neighborhood's architectural and culinary history. Sheila did a superb job of explaining the details about things that I have come to take for granted about... More

I went to the Christmas Cookie Clinic today. Sheila had it very festive with the warmth of a Christmas kitchen and Christmas Music. She gave us history of the origins where spices and recipes came from all around the world. We got hands on baking and decorating, and even got to take our Christmas cookies home in cute little Boxes!... More

Today I participated in my third A La Carte Food tour. Sheila Campbell is so fabulous....it's obvious she loves sharing her passion and knowledge for food and it's history. She is so well organized and the afternoon was jammed packed with information and hands-on fun as we all joined in to travel the world via her delicious Christmas cookies.

My boyfriend and I attended Sheila's culinary tour of the German Village. It was a lot of fun. The Village is beautiful, quaint and full of interesting history and the food was delicious. Sheila has such a great personality and you can tell she really enjoys sharing experiences and food with people. Both her and Tim, the owner of the... More
