The area is not maintained, but it is quite a site if you are in the area. It is also an interesting drive to get to the dam.

The area is not maintained, but it is quite a site if you are in the area. It is also an interesting drive to get to the dam.

The other reviewer was spot on. This lock is inoperable and there are no plans to fix making this a mandatory portage if you are kayaking or canoeing down the Muskingum River Water Trail. The portage is short and the topography is favorable for a quick carry and river reentry. Primitive camping is available to those who dare. Two children... More

The Ellis Dam and Lock are part of the Muskingum Water Trail. The lock is closed. There is a good view of the dam and a rock wall on the far side of the river, however, the abandoned lock is not in good repair. There is no fencing.
