the Visitor Center was closed due to vacation plans but I visited the Cavalry museum which was great. Then I drove around to view the historic buildings that are on this still active site.

My father, husband, and I went to see the firing of the Christmas Guns as well as tour the old fort. They had 1 cannon and about 15-20 historical reenactors firing pistols and rifles. The reenactors were in full costume, mostly civil war time period....More

We saw the sign on our way home through Oklahoma and hopped off the highway. So glad we did. The history was amazing. I especially loved the old cemetery.

It has a nice museum. The grounds are very well kept and interesting. The old cemetery to the West is historic.
