Grand Lake is one of only two lakes in Oklahoma that are private. Grand is the largest lake in Oklahoma that you can own lakefront property that is not Army Corp of Engineers managed. In my opinion, the north part of the lake around Grove is the slightly nicer because of the size of the coves are just right to... More

Miles of shoreline. Lots of wildlife such as Pelicans and Eagles. Many gorgeous homes along the shorelines. Accessible by water restaurants. Fishing is excellent.

We recently traveled to Grand Lake, Oklahoma - we had no idea what to expect. The lake is beautiful with 1300 miles of shoreline. The unfortunate part of our trip is that this is really a seasonal place to visit - we stayed on Monkey Island. Our resort was virtually empty the entire week. All the marinas were closed up... The lake is not too small and not too large. North end has smoother water for tubing and skiing. Water is rougher around Shangri-la due to the larger boats. Eat at Quarter Deck, Ugly Johns, or The Landing around Monkey Island, Blue Bluff on the north end if it is open. Fish for bass, crappie, and catfish.

If you are looking for off the beaten path and a few surprise little pubs you are in the right place. We spent time in Grove and then went to Monkey Island. Huge lake off season....perfect!

This lake has some of the best fishing around. Start off in the early spring working for spoonbill/paddlefish and then chase the white bass/sandbass. Then a little later in the spring go after the crappie. In the hot summer months go night fishing for catfish or white bass/ sandbass.

My family has gone to the Lake for 28 years for a yearly family reunion and stayed at several hotels. We always have loved the lake and missed it in recent years when the reunion no longer took place. The wildlife is nice, water sports are plentiful, scenery is very nice, lots of places to stay from small hotels, camping... More
