Woody Guthrie is an American hero in my book, and I had high hopes for this museum. I wasn't disappointed; the museum had instruments Woody played, fascinating displays of Guthrie's manuscripts and notes for his songs, and (while we were there) a traveling exhibit about...More

Museum was small but packed a lot of information inside. A 15 minute movie is included in price of admission on the life of Woody Guthrie. If you are a music fan, it should not be missed when in Tulsa. I do recommend!

While in Tulsa last week, we went by the Woody Guthrie Center and were really pleasantly surprised. Nice building, well-done exhibits, and interesting way of showcasing his music, art, background, and life. Worthwhile visit!

I may just be ignorant, but if you are not already a fan or very familiar with Mr. Guthrie it is a waste of time. It has some interesting things to see, but I essentially just walked the place and left. On the other hand:...More

We just finished attending Woodyfest and felt a visit to the Woody Guthrie Centre was in order. It is a great little museum rich in information about Woody and the times he lived in. I loved the headphones and the stories they told, don't miss...More

A cursory glance at the interior of the Center might make one plan for an hour, but the depths to which you can dive through interaction (with videos, recordings, graphics, and even songwriting and banjo instruction!) will easily support three hours. We will have to...More

Lost of history on Woody Guthrie. Really interesting information and bits of his life presented in a captivating way. I'd highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Tulsa looking for something to do.

We visited the museum on a first Friday of the month. There were quite a few people since it was free. It's a great introduction to learning about early music history and lyrics. Especially the influence that Woody Guthrie has had on musicians who have...More

I wouldn't have ordinarily been interested in seeing a Woody Guthrie museum. But, I'm glad I did. I learned a lot about an American icon. The displays are well-coordinated and include a lot of unusual and evolving material.

This has an original manuscript of the lyrics to This Land is Your Land. Pretty Awesome. Usually have traveling exhibits coming through. Go on the First Friday of the month if possible.

There is no tour..........you go at your own pace. It's a very small museum, crammed full of well-displayed items. It's got a lot of interactive displays too. If you listen to everything and read everything - probably 3... More
