The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center offers living history demonstrations, interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations, special events, and more than four miles of interpretive trails. We offer a variety of interpretive programs and special exhibits year-round. One mile of well-preserved ruts lie on the Interpretive Center grounds, and are accessible by the trails or from a turnout on Highway 86 about a half-mile west of the Center's entrance.

We really enjoyed this museum. It has a lovely setting with great views and a well designed building. The displays about live on the Oregon Trail, along with excerpts from pioneers' letters, really gave me a feel for the good and bad of the Trail....More

Thought I was a history buff, learned today that I wasn't on the Oregon Trail. Growing up in Boise, last 20 years living in Georgia. I switched to Civil War history and forgot the others.

Wonderful real wagons from the movement west with life size people and animals exhibits along with everything hauled from their homes east. Great stories included. Well worth your stop for an excellent self-guided history of the brave pioneers.

I have wanted to go to this museum for some time, as I am a descendant of multiple families who traveled the Oregon Trail. Most important to me was finally getting to see the actual wagon ruts, which are now more faint with time, but...More

They have done a stupendous job of telling the story of traveling the Oregan Trail. Even had a local person desplaying flint and obsidian knapping as well as a display of furs from local native animals. Good for children and adults alike.

You are immersed in the Trail. Eastern Oregon still bears the marks of the emigrants. The Center's displays are realistic (if a bit dusty, as these diorama's can be). There is comprehensive written and filmed information, with quotes from emigrants - particularly women - hanging...More

Good displays, but leaves out most of pre American history, such as the Spanish, Russian and British fight over Oregon's resources.

This place is kind of out of the way, but it had wonderful exhibits, a great film of what the Oregon Trail involved and we could have spent more time there if we had it to spare. Seniors with a National Parks pass get in...More
