6 miles each way, direct trail. After the first 1.7 miles of switchbacks, flat and open with panoramic views then a steep hike up the business side of the south ridge. Take the time to explore the lake at the edge of the glacier before...More

We hiked it on 7/5/17. It was +90 degrees at the trailhead and there was still snow on the trail a couple miles into the hike. It is a pretty hike that hugs Fall Creek. There is a nice log footbridge over the creek within...More

Ten adults set out to hike the South Sister to the summit. We made a detour to Lake Moraine which was beautiful and calm in the am. You can see the reflection of the mountain off the lake. The hike to the summit is pretty...More

Truer words were never spoken about this hike. There is no technical gear needed but it's 11.6 miles up and down with a 4800+ foot in elevation gain. Five of us off-duty firefighters started about 7 am and returned about 5pm after spending almost an...More

This is absolutely worth the effort. Its tough, so make sure you are in appropriate shape and bring enough food, water, and appropriate supplies. Glad we had good boots, trekking poles, 3+ liters of water a piece, and warm clothing. People get lost, so unless...More
