This place was so cool! It's definitely worth a stop on the way through. If you climb up you can peep through the windows that tell you what mountain you're looking at! Definitely worth stopping!

The Observatory is in the Willamette National Forest on Route 242. That road is part of the McKenzie-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway and is a beautiful drive with places along the way to stop and do short hikes to waterfalls and... More

I didn't see any dogs but you should check the Oregon park service site since it would be one of theirs. I thought dogs are allowed if leashed - but still would be an easy thing to check
